Candlewyck Inn, Keyser

My husband and I dined at the Inn on two different weekends when visiting Keyser. The food was excellent both times. We appreciated the quality and the use of fresh vegetables and salad greens. The staff was friendly and the atmosphere comfortable. We will be back again.

We had to swat fruit flies entire time of dining. They were all over the door close to our table and landed in our beverages. Wallpaper was coming off the wall. Dishes were unsightly with stains and discolorations. The food was fair but did not meet their prices.

My wife called to ask if the chicken breast stuffed w/sausage, and walnut dressing was a special on the menu last night. She told Fred that it was my birthday, and this was my favorite meal, along with the mushroom caps stuffed with crabmeat. Fred advised the chicken breast was not, but he would make for me. My wife, my sister, and myself went to the Candlewyck for dinner. To our surprise, my favorite was on the evening menu for anyone to order, and beneath it was a Happy Birthday wish to me. Thanks to Fred, and his staff for doing this for us, and a very delicious meal as always.

This was the worst hotel I have ever stayed in. Rooms were dirty and street noise all night was deafening. Carpets stained; no amenities like hairdryers or iron; more like a house converted to hotel rooms. I didn't eat there because I couldn't wait to leave. I can only imagine that every person (save two of us)reviewing this place is from WV and has standards so low that this place starts looking good. Had I not had personal reasons for staying overnight I would have driven back to Winchester and stayed at the very nice Marriott Courtyard. In fact, avoid staying anywhere in Keyser if at all possible.

Well i dont think there was anything i like candlewyck inn the beds had more stains on them than the floor...trust me the floor had a lot..i wouldn't tell anyone to stay there! I traveled a long way and thought that this place was nice because of the review but they were so wrong.........................

I had to be in Keyser WV on business my company set me up at the Candlewyck Inn after a 6 hour drive I was tried ,and missing my family, from the moment I entered the Inn I was greeted by a friendly smile and a warm welcome. I had a wonderful dinner and could have sat in the dining room all night, Fred and his staff made me feel like I was family who came home to visit. When morning came I again was greeted by a freindly staff member who had fresh coffee and a pleasant attitude,and a willness to serve me,what a wonderful start to my long day. So kudos to Fred and his staff for caring enough to make weary travlers feel less home sick. If you ever find yourself in Keyser stop in enjoy a warm welcome, a good meal , a clean room and fresh baked cookies Ymmmmm. It's a little piece of home away from home. and them rooms are the cleanest you'll ever sleep in! Only go there on days that John is cookin cuz his food rocks!

The friendly staff that Fred and Sharon have make you feel a part of their family. The food is by far the best in the area (I Love the crab stuffed mushrooms)and the bar is a nice cozy area to relax and enjoy a before or after dinner drink. I visit there every time I travel to WV.

Just stayed at the Candlwyck over the weekend, and found Fred and his staff to be the same accomodating, friendly folks I first met fourteen years ago when my son was a student at Potomac State College. The Candlewyck is the "only" place to stay or dine in Keyser. Fred and his staff made our visit to Keyser special, and I'm sure that most guests have had a similar experience.

The negative comment is an attempt to discredit a long term liable business and has no credibility. The Candlewyck has been serving local diners as well as small and large gatherings since 1984. We highly recommend this establishment for its hospitality and service.
