Overpriced!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 7/18/11
First off when we arrived it was late in the afternoon and there was no more parking in the main lot. They do have another lot across the street that we could use but there were no spots available! They offer 1 spot per room so if they have 50 rooms, there lots should accompany 50 cars. NOT! I parked blocking another persons car with a note that had my room number if they needed me to move. Management came BANGING on my door at 6 am the next morning waking my children demanding me to move my car. As I explained to him that there were no spots open the night before, he walked away! Then I went to the office to tell them that my reservation included a queen sized bed because the bed looked like a full. She just said "no that room has a queen" and that's it! The bed was sooo small and did NOT look like a queen sized. The hotel is retro themed but some of the things look plain outdated. Another thing that I did not like was that AFTER I put the do not disturb sign on the door, the maid still came in! We were not in the room but came back to new towels and wash cloths. This was a problem because I don't allow my family to use any washcloths but our own! We brought wash clothes and they were white like the ones the hotel provides. I knew the maid would confuse mine for theirs so I requested they not change linens and things. I came back to my room and she had taken all 4 of my personal washcloths and replaced them with hotel washcloths! That really upset me. The office just said "she was just doing her job". Also, the pool area is small congrs ted. Other than that, the bathroom was clean and the location is awesome. The price for service is not the best so I would NOT recommend this hotel. We will definitely stay elsewhere next summer.

MISLEAD & TOOK MY MONEY
By steve, 6/14/09
I HAD A RESERVATION, 1 MONTH IN ADVANCE, WHEN I WENT TO CHECK IN, THEY WANTED ANOTHER 100.00 DOLLARS FROM ME. I HAD ALREADY PAID FOR ROOM ON PREARRANGED RATE & WOULD NOT REFUND MY MONEY. THE CLERK DID NOT CARE AND WAS RUDE. IT WAS VERY CLEAR TO ME THAT THIS HAS HAPPENED BEFORE TO OTHERS AND I WAS JUST ANOTHER VICTIM----

A Terrible Visit
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 7/31/08
This hotel looked so nice and modern on the outside, but on the inside it was dirty and gross. First of all, there wers stains on the curtains, the wall, the lightswitch, some of the pillows, one of the towels, and on the top of the television. Second, music was blasting at 9:30-10:00 PM; it was too loud! Third, many things in the room were broken including one of the two beds, both headboards, and the "door" to the air-conditioner. Fourth, one of the walls which looked like it had been hit, had a chunk missing and the ceiling was peeling and cracked. Fifth and lastly, there was no room in the bathroom to put anything in and there were only 2 towels to begin with. I DO NOT recommend this hotel at all.

A Terrible Visit
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 7/30/08
This hotel looked nice on the outside, but on the inside it was not clean at all. First of all, one of the beds in the room I stayed at was busted. Second, there were stains on the curtains, some of the pillows, the desk, the top of the television, and on one of the towels in the bathroom. Third, many things were broken including the bed that I had mentioned before, the headboard on both beds, the ceiling which had cracks in it, and the wall which looked like it had been hit, leaving a chunk missing. The room was small for the price; it was very expensive. I DO NOT recommend this hotel at all.

Awful
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 7/14/08
This is not a boutique hotel - it has a cool look but isn't in good condition - and is way overpriced for what you get - first room (suite) was dark, dirty, worn out pillows, things not working - moved to a nicer suite -- which was better (nicer lay out and brighter) but still things broken and the pillows/bed - uncomfortable would not go back

Disappointed
By Guy, 7/13/08
My first and probably last visit to the StarLux. The room was showing its wear and tear. The paint had faded, the carpet was dirty, furniture with drawers not closing properly, table lamp with no cord to plug in and a musty smell. Never go on July 4th weekend. Never got to use the pool cause it seemed like kids and people who were not styaing at the hotel were in it. The water was not clean looking and the hottub always had kids in it. The lounge room was always dirty. The cleaning lady would clean it and then families would come in, lay out their supper and mess the place up. People who stayed there camped out on the balconies. Towels hung everywhere and screaming till all hours by kids. The intersection was noisey with loud motorcycles and boom box stereos. Any police in this town??? I had so much hope but the price was not worth it. Staff was great and courteous but clientel leaved alot to be desired. It was like trailer trash finally had a holiday and stayed at the hotel. PS: Anyone speak english anymore in the USA?

Great manager, bad staff, decent theme hotel
By Mitch, 7/4/08
Theme hotel was cute but not "awesome" like I hoped for and believed it would be from the pictures. Wildwood seems not to have any chain hotels where you can be assured of quality. Prices in this area for hotels are ridiculous. The manager was a great guy if you can catch him. His staff was not personable, unhelpful and unkind sadly. Staff needs to be taught customer service behavior and good communication skills. Regular hotel room was tiny and old with doo-wop restyling which was cute but not impressive. Nevertheless, I saw the inside of a few other hotels on our visit and nothing was more impressive. If your looking for a decent place to sleep that is kind of "neat" this might be the spot. Really good location right by the boardwalk. It might be worth staying a little farther away from the ocean and getting abetter deal at a more modern location OR VISITING a different part of the oceanside if you are looking for a more MODERN experience (i.e. Atlantic City). If you are doing wildwood, this could be your best bet. ONE GOOD THING: Morey's Piers owns this hotel so you can get great dining deals and tix to the amusement parks at nearly half price.

By A Yahoo! Contributor, 12/21/07
i liked the hotel room very muchh... the first thing is that when we got there they were threatning us that they will kick us out for any reason.. thinking that we were going to throw a party there... i walked in the room it was very nice and clean but the whole 4 night stay there was a pain in the ass the staff complained about everything.. it has a great location it is right by the beach and it has a great price.

I Loved it! It makes you feel younger!
By Bonnie Warfield, 10/26/07
It makes you feel like you went back in time. It's great. Nice, comfy room. Great value. Not luxury but I didn't pay the high price either! The whole place is awesome. Nice pool with hot tub. Nice grill to use on the deck. Game room with pool table. Clean and neat. Loved the lava lamps in our room. Open all year and would be great in cold winter weather. Nice open fireplace and wide screen TV in the lounge. Worth a special trip to Wildwood just to stay here!
