We were looking for a place to stay that was affordable. We are not the type who need fancy accomidations. We just needed a place to rest after a day of sightseeing and just some place to sleep that didn't empty our wallets (like all the other Hotels in the area). We were not disapointed. It was a quite pleasant place to make home base. Not fancy by any stretch of the imagination but comfortable. It was by far the least expensive place around and the owners were very friendly and accomidating. They even let us borrow a washer and dryer so we could leisurely get our clothes clean in preparation for our long trip home!
The restaurant was first class and the food exceptional. This Hotel will certainly be at the top of our list the next time we decide to visit the area.
I could never express how good the food is here and how beautiful and comfortable the dining hall, bars and exterior of this place are - I would drive two hours just to eat there again~~! It would have been the BEST PLACE IN THE WORLD for food and fun had it not been for the rooms which were a dead zone for the internet and my cell phone, filthy carpets, 1976 tv set without proper cable reception (fuzzy picture), outlets that don't work so you can't style your hair because you can't see yourself while drying and curling, ripped screen door so bugs were getting in, old curtains and just generally a BIG DISASTER PIT. With all this said, I would go back for the food and charm of the exterior, ask for a second floor room with a view in the main room and hope for a better room. I believe the people in the main house were HAPPY with cable that worked etc. I know Harrison's describes themselves as a comfortable place with no bells and whistles.......and I am not that fussy usually....but these rooms need a lot of work - I don't care about frills --- just fix the cable - rip up the stained carpet and replace with tile/wood - fix the screen door - get some new bedspreads and curtains and EVERYONE WILL BE HAPPY..!! If you're in the area..... GO FOR THE FOOD.....it's to DIE FOR..!!!!!!!! :)
Carpets are NASTY dirty, screen doors are broken and flapping, air conditioning is ancient and very ineffective, lamps were broken in our room, towels are from the dollar store and several years old at that. According to their brochures, there are many Harrison family still eating at the family trough, however, apparently there is absolutely not one of them that will wield a paintbrush or repair anything. Really sad. Stay here only if you don't want to sleep.
The Taj Mahal not, but good, clean, relaxing, fun!

My husband Larry and I took our mini vaction this year again at Harrison's and enjoyed every moment AGAIN!!! This time we took our dog Darren and had a fabulous time....the service is great...the food is great...the atmosphere is very relaxing. We enjoyed sitting outside on the lawn watching the boats come in and out just drinking one of their speciality coffees while Darren just roamed around sniffing the smells of tranquility. The people are friendly and treat you just like family....it is a place we will always go to each summer. Take time to go....Suzanne
Best seafood I ever had and the atmoshere was captivating. The outdoor deck serves steamed crabs at half the price of Baltimore restaurants and it seems like it's a party going on there every weekend! Everything seemed very clean and the employees were very nice and informative. I would go there evry weekend if I could!
Horrible mattress; it must have been the cheapest one they could buy 25 years ago. Didn't sleep a wink. Dirty carpet. Overpriced. It's 'fish camp' accomodations. Don't take a lady there to impress her because you won't.
