Website is misleading

Is your idea of a resort a cheap plywood-sided, metal-roofed motel with no a/c on a gravel parking lot? Mine either!
I booked a "pool side" room via the web after looking at the lovely pictures, thinking that soaking in hot springs would be the ideal way to end my Colorado vacation of camping and hiking. When I arrived at the main building, it all looked lovely with lush landscaping, beautiful stone work and exposed timbers - just what you'd image a mountain resort to be. But when I was directed up the hill on a gravel road to my accommodations it was nowhere near the main building and springs either in distance or ambiance. It's true there's a pool up there, but it was closed and the building looked like a truck stop motel ca. 1950. Well, I was here, so I might as well check it out so I opened the door and was greeted by a blast of hot, musty air, scented with hotel disinfectant. I returned to the main desk and the clerk was very apologetic and understanding. She gave me to understand this had happened before - in fact, the couple who were in line before me when I registered were just as dissatisfied but were able to get the last room in the main lodge. I was not so lucky and returned to Salida and the Gateway Inn.
I emailed the management with my dissatisfaction, especially since I discovered my credit card had been charged despite the clerk's assurance that it wouldn't be. I received a reply full of condescending corporate-speak that particularly rankled since the management claimed this had never happened before. The clerk assured me the discrepancy on the website had been brought to the management's attention and that this was an ongoing problem.
This may be a wonderful experience if you're just visiting for the day or get a room in the main lodge or one of the cabins. Just be aware that the pool side rooms are not as they are represented on the website.
