The most helpful and friendly place in the Sierras

We (20 motorcyclists mostly on Harleys) had come over Sonora Pass in an unexpectedly intense snow storm. By the time we reached 395, it was dark and the road to the south was under chain control. Cal-Trans recommended we head north to Walker, 14 miles away. Several riders fell (no injuries) on the ice-slick road so we all went to the shoulder. Sheriffs and Cal-Trans took our wives in their vehicles and called for a blade to scrape the road and had it followed by a sand truck. The trip down to Walker was about an hour, at about 10 miles per hour. We were followed by the Sheriffs and CaI-Trans as the snow blew heavily in our faces and the temperature was at 14 degrees. It was about 9:00pm when we pulled over in front of the West Walker Motel. A little lady from the motel came across the highway and offered us rooms which we gladly accepted. She then called the local store and had them stay open an extra 30 minutes as she took four of our wives in her personal vehicle to the store. When they returned, the angelic little lady fired up her barbeque and cooked our hotdogs for us. She gave us her cordless landline phone to use, since our cells had no reception there. The next morning it was still snowing and she told us to stay as long as we needed, to stay warm.
Each room, though small, was very comfortable and warm. But the friendly, helpfulness of the owners was beyond compare. Please visit the West Walker Motel. Angels live there and bikers are welcome!
