Very disappointed
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 6/6/11
Went to Ocean City Maryland over the weekend and stayed at Princess Bayside. I'll start with the good parts of the hotel first. The location is great close to the beach and within walking distance, however if you’re in a room by the street you will hear the sound of traffic throughout the night. Prices were good and manageable although I was somewhat surprised that breakfast is 10 dollars. Now for the bad points, this is what almost completely ruined the trip. One word, bugs. That's right the room that we were originally in was infested with bed bugs. Nasty tiny crawling insects that were biting and completely covered the back of the bed spread, it was extremely horrible and disturbing. Didn't notice the bugs until after I had already been bit by at least two of the disgusting things. Immediately to the front desk and asked to change rooms which they quickly obliged. However, the other room also had an infestation of the nasty bugs. So we had to change rooms yet again. The third time was the charm and after a quick inspection it was revealed that this room was not affected by the plague of bed bugs. By then it was already past twelve and I tried to get some sleep even though I kept imagining the feeling of the creepy crawling bugs. Other than that major issue everything seemed to be at least 20 years old. There were cracked mirrors, leaking showers, old TVs, and a practically antique hairdryer which didn't work and seemed to be about 30 years old. The trip was amazing but the stay at this hotel ruined the entire trip. I would not recommend for anyone to stay at this place.

Hard to sleep at night
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 7/19/09
The Hotel is located next door to the Seacrets Nightclub which makes for an unpleasant sleeping experience at night. My family stayed there last year and at about 4:00 AM one morning a disgruntled drunk wandered onto our floor demanding entry into our room looking for his girlfriend. Needless to say we were scared, startled and disgusted. My husband had to call the front desk. They said that the guy had also been on other floors and annoying other guests. He had obviously had too much to drink at Seacrets next door. The Restaurant is below par. We ordered meals for take out and had to throw them away and go out somewhere else. The air conditioner is too loud at night. we could not sleep. The hotel is pleasant but needs updating.

Nice Hotel
By beacher, 8/21/08
We just stayed in this hotel for the first time. I had never stayed on the bayside, and did enjoy that. They have a very small private beach, too shallow to swim in but great for exploring. It's close to some good restaurants and stores. the restaurant in the hotel is awful, very poor service, food was cold, took forever to get it. Vending machines do not work in this hotel. The outside pool is pretty yucky- and the "outside bar" is a tiny bar where no matter what you ask for the guy has run out of it. the room was a decent size- strangely laid out though. the balcony was nice, and you could see the sunset nightly. the bathroom was a very weird set up- toilet and shower in one room- too close together, and sink outside of that. There is nowhere to rinse off sand from the beach so the room ends up getting pretty sandy. Housekeeping was pretty good though about cleaning the room. Essentially I would go back, despite the negatives- but it definitely isn't a high class- high end hotel like the Hilton- but the Hilton didn't have any rooms ; )

It was good
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 2/22/08
We stay there every year. It's nice because the balcony overlooks the bay. The bad thing about the hotel is that the lobby is in the other building. The vending machines do not work most of the time, and they took my cousin's money, so we had to walk all the way down to the other building to go to the lobby to get a refund. We were trying to find a vending machine in the same building, and we finally found on that worked. The location is pretty good. Although, since it is on the other side of Coastal Highway, you have to cross the busy street to get to the ocean. There used to be a restaraunt practically on the beach by the ocean, but they took it away. The hotel is right next to Seacrets, a popular restaraunt/nightclub. In my opinion, the hotel is pretty good. The room service people were very nice, and gave us extra shampoo and soap on request. We will most likely come back next year.

never again!!!!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 9/7/07
This has got to be the worst experience we've ever had in Ocean City. The check in was not on time. They had an angry lobby of frustrated clients. We kept being told check back in 15 minutes. Check-in was suppose to be at 4:00pm. That didn't happen. When we finally were allowed in the room I immediately thought, this place said that it was newly renovated. I would have hated to have seen it before the renovation. The carpet had a big tear in it. The room was suppose to be smoke free. There were so many burn holes in the carpet. When I went to get a small plate out of the cabinet, it had dried up food on it and hair stuck to the plate. How Gross!! The balcony was a joke. The screen to the balcony was all torn up. The air-conditioning unit was so loud you could barely hear the tiny t.v. or sleep at night. If you turned off the fan the room became too uncomfortable with regard to heat. The pool was skanky. The water was very cloudy. On their website they make it seem so nice. Don't be fooled. The elevators were smelly and dirty. They barely worked. Soooo slow.Don't waste your time or money. We paid to be there from Sunday to Saturday. We finally left Thursday morning. It's a shame when you hate to go back to your room. This place needs to be torn down and rebuilt. You also need some friendly customer oriented front desk employees. Everything was funny to them. No concern for client satisfaction. I'm not talking about extra's. Just give the service we paid for.

Ruined Honeymoon
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 9/19/06
The hotel was terrible. Security was outside and cursing with other staff and fooling around when we pulled up, offering no assistance on where to park. Our room was in a seperate building from the lobby. The outside pool was closed, no where on the web site did it say that (we stayed the weekend before memorial day). The arcarde they advertise is 2 video games in the pool area. The room service sat outside our room for 8 hours, when ants arrived and I complained they finally got it. Our room was next to a construction site that woke us up at 6:00 am every moring. Our balcony was suppose to be of the bay, it was of the parking lot. We were expecting a lot more, espcially since it's the sister hotel of Princss Royal. We were expecting a lot more for our money. We ordered a movie off the tv service and the picture was so terrible we could not watch it (and the movie wasn't cheap). The bad hotel really put a damper on the honeymoon and I was very disappointed. The maid service was nice and friendly, just to bad the managers and other staff were not.

WORST EVER
By johnb, 11/28/05
This hotel was absolutely disgusting, not only did the shower go from luke warm to skin burning hot for no reason, but the beds didn't even come with the correct sheets to keep your body off the nasty mattress. When this was brought to management they disregarded the whole thing as if these conditions were normal

This Hotel is Not Worth the Money
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 8/29/05
The Princess Bayside is known is Ocean City as being one of the higher end hotels in the beach town. However, after my stay in August I realized that this hotel can no longer be recognized as a high-end hotel, as it is advertised. Firstly, there was no sheet on the beds that covered the mattress. Therefore, when I was sleeping during the night and I would roll over, the sheet that was supposed to be fitting the mattress was just a plain sheet so when I moved around when I awoke in the morning, half of my body was laying ontop of a dirty mattress. That is gross! A high end hotel should have sheets that fit the mattress. When I spoke to the management about this problem, one particular manager laughed at me telling me that my complaint was absurd! Another issue with the hotel was all of the vending machines were broken. Not only could I not find a cold drink anywhere in the hotel but it took my money as well. Another problem with this hotel was a shortage of towels. The maid only left me and my roomate with two shower towels and two hand towels. When I called to request more, the towels never arrived at my room and I had to walk all the way down to the front desk, which happened to be in the other building, just to get my towels. I would not reccomend this hotel to anyone looking for a high-end hotel.

Stay Away
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 6/12/05
The Princess Bayside Resort Hotel takes advantage of it's young guests. Myself, being seventeen, was staying with two other eighteen year old girls and two other seventeen year old girls. All we wanted was to relax on the beach for a few days after graduation. Well on the second to last day of our stay we were woken up at ten in the morning by the Head of House keeping, insisting that she be let in the room. /since we did not get there fast enough for her taste she opened the door herself. Some of us were not decent yet, but that did not seem to matter. She demanded to know if we had any alcohol. When we said we did not, she searched the room!!!!! Then she told us to clean up our room because our mess was "not acceptable." (Well, yeah if you refuse to take out out trash or vacuum the sandy carpet!!!) Then to my horor, she brought us trash bags and told us to empty out own trash cans!!!! The thing you have to understand about this is that they had no reason to do this! We had not made alot of noise, been seen acting suspiciously or done any damage to the room. When I confronted the manager and the general manager, they were rude and unappoligetic. They said that they did it because we were not the legal drinking age. (I would see how that was a problem if we had been drinking.) Alss, they said that they were particularly searching rooms with do not disturb signs out.(Now I don't understand the purpose of the sign.) The main point is that they treat young poeple badly, invade their privacy and show no iota of respect to their underaged guests. ~Underaged but sober in Ocean City
