Jacuzzi Suite Let Down
By Mindy, 3/1/11
My husband and I booked the Jacuzzi suite as a special get away and were very disappointed when we ran the tub full and the water was brownish red and very dirty. When I called the owner the day we got back in town she said they had been working on the water in that building and I should have just ran it longer and it would have cleared up and told me I should have called the front desk. When we checked in a girl had to come from home to let us in so I figured calling the office at 11pm was not an option. The owner was not apologetic at all did not offer to do anything about our inconvenience and when our phone call was mysteriously cut short she did not even try to call me back to finish our conversation. She was border line on rude!!! I understand that issues can come up and things happen but if I owned the Motel I would go out of my way to apologize and at least offer to refund the difference between a regular room and the suite or something. I will not be going back and I will not recommend this motel to anyone. All the owner would have had to do was to acknowledge that our evening was disappointing and tried to apologize instead of making me feel like I was the one that did something wrong. Bad Business!!!

Route 66 Charm
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 11/13/10
Love this place and the historic charm. Rooms were on the small side but that was expected. Comfortable and charming will stay here again. Great for a couples retreat. Thought the cost was a little pricey for the size of the room.

Wonderful experience on Route 66
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 10/25/10
Loved the charming throwback to the old days of Route 66. Definately a must stop on "THE MOTHER ROAD!" I felt like Steinbeck would love to spend the night in this fine establishment! The rooms are all original woodwork, windows etc, but lovingly renovated and very very adorable. I enjoyed the whole experience on a comfortable bed. The rooms are small, but that's the charm of the place. Very tastefully decorated, and comfortable. Only complaint was our shower was quite small.

BEST MOTEL EVER!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 8/18/10
This is by far the best place to stay when traveling through Cuba, MO. My husband and I live in Maryland and did Route 66 this summer (2010) and stayed at the Wagon Wheel for the night. We LOVED it!! Beautiful room, quiet area, little table outside of room to sit at. The owner, she is just wonderful-so is her granddaughter! They were so nice to us. Actually, the nicest ones on our entire trip! (we travels 5811 miles on a Harley-Davidson) When we got there, we were so hot, sweaty and very dirty, but they still treated us like royalty. They are the best in our book!!! We will NEVER forget them. THANK YOU!!! Keep up the fantastic work. The room was beautiful, so very clean! I just can not say enough good things about this Motel. And if you get there, don't pass up shopping in their little store-beautiful things and the prices are fantastic! Both in the shop and for the room. If, or when, we ever go through MO again and are near Cuba, this is the Motel we will stay at. WE LOVED IT

No way!
By citygirl, 6/6/10
We were told that our room had been remodeled but it was like being in a 1970s bedroom. We were supposed to have a king size bed and were given a full size. No way had this room been redone. Pretty ancient. I can't list all of the bad, just read the other reviews. Did not feel safe. On the other side, they are redoing some rooms (I peeked thru the windows) that look excellent, jacuzzi tubs, kitchen, etc. When it all gets done, should be very nice. I am sure the owner has good intentions, but don't rent out a substandard room and tell someone it has been redone.

Oh no... NEVER AGAIN.
No phones, dark, late at night, and a broken window latch in the small narrow bathroom passageway between the front and back bedrooms. There was a door that you could exit out of the back bedroom also, but I couldn't let even one of my kids sleep there alone for fear that I might not be able to hear if someone tried to break in. I felt very threatened, and was not a secure invironment. My children and I were stranded....I couldn't even close my eyes. We all stayed together on a hard full size bed in the front bedroom and laid huddled together on the bed with our clothes and coats on. It was night-marish and felt like one of those scarry movies , but in my reality.

Unbelievably cheap, quaint and cute!
By LoriL, 5/30/06
I've been staying at the Wagon Wheel everytime I go back to visit family for 8 years now. Never will you ever find such a cheap motel! 15.00 a night! My kids love to stay there. No phones, no pool just a cute quiet room w/individual air and heat. Outside looks like individual cottages with each having a small porch and chair. You can sit out at night and feel right at home. The owners have died recently so I'm hoping the family will keep the uniqueness of this Motel.
