Has great potential, but needs some work
We booked rooms at the Colonial Motel for a ATV trip to the Hatfield McCoy trail system. It is very near the Rockhouse trail system and the location is excellent. Room quality is very basic. The linens are of very poor quality and the mattresses seem like they were purchased from a salvage yard. This was particularly disappointing because the last thing you want to do after getting beat up on the trails is to come back to a very worn out, sagging, thin mattress. This is an easy fix, and one the owner should remedy ASAP. The shower in one of our 3 rooms did not function properly either - again a real drag when you're covered in trail dust. On the plus side: the location, parking, and convenient store are all bonuses, and the people are friendly and helpful. A warning though, the store doesn't open until 10am, so you'll want to get your trail pass either the night before or at the 7-11 in Man. Hope this helps you make the right decision on where to stay.
