We stayed in one of the 20 detached cabins, and found them to be everything as promised on the website - spacious, clean, in excellent condition. Wonderful interactions with the proprietor as well, who was friendly, helpful, sincere. The cabins do not directly face the mountains, but chairs are provided outside for each cabin, and you just need to turn them a few feet...
I was also informed that there are a few rooms the let in the back of the pizza parlor, and this may be what the other reviewer mentioned. I would definitely request the cabins.
There were difficulties with the wireless system, but the proprietor was gracious enough to let me use his for the couple of minutes I needed to be on line. We stayed 2 nights, and will return if in area again.
As their information says, they are just below the Rim of Bryce Canyon in Tropic. We were glad we chose to stay in Tropic and avoid the masses at the lodging at Bryce. We stayed in one of the detached cabins. It was clean and cozy. And be sure to check out Clarke's restaurant for good food and friendly service.
There are 2 similar sites in Topic with similar names. I have to believe the other review for this location was actually for the other lodging. We initially tried to stay there and couldn't find anyone to help us.
We were drawn to this motel by web site photos showing a log lodge with views of the mountains. When we arrived, we found that our room in the "main lodge" was actually in a double wide behind a pizza parlor. There was one small window so high I had to stand on a chair ... for a view of the parking lot. Worst of all, the innkeeper charged my credit card for three nights and apparently skipped town. The office was closed and the phone was off the hook. We tried e-mailing her but the wireless internet also did not work.
