Can't wait to go back!!!!!!!!
By Sasia, 06/23/09
I LOVED IT HERE!!!! My boyfriend and I stayed here for 3 days to celebrate our birthdays. The staff at the front lobby were very helpful, the view of the oceanfront was awesome, and the hot tub in our room was a plus. The heated pool was really nice we didn't have to worry about the water ever being cold. Definitely would recommend staing here. There is much to do around the area. This is the best location if you dont like being around the vast majority of tourists. The pricing of the stay was definitely worth it.

Okay Hotel
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 09/29/08
The schooner inn had okay staff and the beach was very nice and i liked the bike rentals in front of the hotel. The room needed some upgrades and the tolit was comming off of the floor every time you sat down on it and sometimes when you would call the front desk, they would not answer (i would not have liked that to happen if it was an emergency). Overall the hotel was okay.

Nice Stay
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 07/28/08
I stayed here for 2 nights. It was very nice, the room was clean, the staff was friendly, pool was clean. They need to have more parking for vistors. I really liked the idea of being away from all the noise.

Great Place to Stay!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 05/26/08
We have stayed at the Schooner for 15 stays for our annual Virginia Beach vacation. The Schooner is in a great location, at the South end of the beach away from everything - BUT stores, etc. are a short walk away or accessible via trolly. For the price, you can't beat the Schooner. Nothin' fancy, just the essentials with fully stocked kitchen and a good clean bed and fresh linens for a good nights sleep. Ocean front rooms allows for great sites of the ocean, ships, dolphins, boats, skate boarders, joggers and bikers, etc. This part of the beach is not congested like the rest is. The parking is limited but you can park across the road in an overflow parking lot. The staff has always been friendly. The only major problem that we ever had was with the rooms not always being ready when we would check in and we booked months in advance. I think that this could be easily fixed by proper scheduling of the housekeeping staff. We had had some minor things like no kitchen table for the kitchenette when we arrived and all we had to do is call the front office and it was taken care of timely. There is a safe in the room to lock up your valuables while you are at the beach. I think it is just a nice place to stay, especially for the money. Like I said, nothing fancy, but it is nice. I have stayed there for 15 years with my family. That should account for something. ENJOY!

I would stay again
By Donna, 12/10/07
We stayed in a 2 room suite. It has everything you need. All the dishes, little fridge, stove, microwave. Was a nice place to stay for the money. It is located at the end of the strip and not alot going on at that end of the strip which I liked. The only negative about this hotel is that I accidentally left something behind and it took them over a month to send it back to me.

Not again
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 11/03/07
Staff could care less.Just do enough to get by.Hot tub had water in it when we got there.Had to run water thru it flush out crude b4 using. The kingsize bed was nothing more than 2 double beds pushed together with some sort of pad to close the gap.Pad kept sinking to where you felt as though you were going to fall thru.Called the desk to ask about getting heat in room. Was told with the attitude that I was to dump to turn it on and just turn it on it will work.I had it on for 1/2 hour b4 calling than they sent a maint man who looked as if he just came from the slums. He said if you open the door the heat goes off and you must reset it.Should of had directions posted to operate it.Except for being close to the ocean and inlet for fishing there was nothing to recommend it to anyone.

A place to avoid
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 09/12/07
Staff were unfriendly and unhelpful, at times downright rude. Poor plumbing. There was a major water leak in the hallway. Staff's solution was to place buckets and trash cans beneath the "drips" for a day or so. Toilet in our room over flowed. The maintanence man was angry with us?!?! Housekeeping was poor. We were there for 5 nights. The bed linens were not changed the entire time. Nor were the floors swept.

location and value. staff attentive when needed. location is suited for families not to party. close to beach. airplanes from nearby air base can be loud, but not overbearing.
