Honey Creek Resort and Motel, Grove

We have been coming here for years. It is an older resort, and the same family has been proprietor for 30+ years. The staff is always helpful. I would not say it is full service, but if you want somewhere your kids can roam, fish, swim, and spend great family time this is the place! We stay there for the shelter, the rest of the time we're in the water. :) The cove is beautiful, and off the main channel. Stores are a few blocks away, so you have the best of both worlds!

Likes: This a short list. It was close to the water. Firm mattresses. Dislikes: Good thing the lake level was up otherwise it would have been terribly difficult to launch a boat from their boat ramp which somewhat narrow, long and on a curve. The ramp was fairly steep. Almost all peo[ple with boats launc and load their boats from the swimming area onto a rock/gravel area which shallow. The boat slips were first come first served basis and I caught another boater who had untied my boat and was moving it to a different slip. The front office and the owner refused to do anything about this rude disrespectful butthead because they did not see him do it. The shower was like standing on the deck of a boat while on the water. Yes, it sways and moves. Dirty. The place must have been built in the '30's and has had minimal effort to keep it up. Windows do not open. You only get clean towels if you ask for them. No microwave and I do not think I would lite that gas stove for anything Overall, a very poor place to stay. Poor facilities. I will not stay at this place next year or any year. Will sleep in a tent before that happens

A very old style of resort. Expect 30+ year old facilities and plumbing. Our room's A/C was not working during the heat wave in June 2009 (Heat index of 105 to 112). We left early. Owner did refund our pre-payment by sending a check. Said they couldn't refund on credit card. Resort on very busy highway in Grove. The lake temperature was 89* while we were there so we couldn't even cool off in there. Very rocky beach area - hard to walk on... we won't be back as there are better places in the area.
