NEW OWNERS IMPROVE HANGING ROCK!
By ,
New canoes, grounds are beautiful, very accommodating! Beautiful shady campsites. We have a large family reunion here every year 200-300 people, this was one of the best Rosser River Romps ever. Thank you for all the wonderful improvements! THANK YOU HANGING ROCK! Shirley Rosser Tune

felt great to be back

HANGING ROCK: Makes ya feel like you belong. I'd like to thank Markus, Theresa, and Justin, for another great weekend. The camp was clean, quiet, and friendly. Yall made us feel like another visit to Hanging Rock cant come soon enough. The grounds were green and beautiful, the Rock beach on the river was clean and inviting. The new owner works hard to make sure you have a fun and relaxing weekend. Nice job Markus, your the man for the job. keep up the hard work. Till next time, Peace my friend. Best Illinois River Spot
By ,
I guess there must be a new owner here because we didn't have any of the complaints that the previous reviewers had. The staff was super friendly. We loved the location: not so crazy crowded as other places on the river, and beautiful scenery. It was so easy to walk straight to the river from the campground. We're going back as soon as possible!

Hold everything

New Owner this season! Yes we read the old reviews and did not know what to expect. Actually the rooms were clean and after a day on the river we slept like a rock. The landing is convienent to walk too and the fishing was great. The camp ground was well maintained with huge shade trees. The staff was extremely friendly and accomodating.

Will pick a different spot next time.
By ,
Well the rooms were very dirty. There were all kinds of crazy bugs all over the floor. You have to wear shoes in the room. We felt dirty after sleeping in the beds with who knows how many bugs. There were not many other people at all staying at the motel, and it is in a quite desolate location. It was a little scary at times. There are no phones and no cell phone reception. The staff however was very nice. The trip on the river was a blast. The room and location of the hotel was terrible but it kind of added to the craziness of our trip. I would not stay there again.

Not Worth the Price
By ,
So the rooms smelled like mold and the floors crept with centipedes, along with other various insects- it's the river! However, when attempting to take a shower (with shoes on; wouldn't dare go in barefoot) our room completely flooded ankle deep with nasty water. It was not a terrible experience but for the price we paid we could have gotten a hotel suite in town instead. I sincerely hope the owners either re-think what they are charging for the rooms, or spend some of that income fixing a few things that would leave their visitors thinking they got what they paid for.

Not quite the Hilton
By ,
We paid $60 per night to stay in a "resort" that smelled like a basement in a 100 year old home. The roof was rotting, as were the eaves and trim on the building. The rooms were not cleaned, cobwebs in the shower, plastic mattress cover, yuk. I wore shoes in the shower and at all times in the room. No telephone, no TV, we all sat outside, afraid to spend too much time in the room.

I was afraid to take a shower
By ,
I can usually stand to "rough it", but at $60 per night, we should have just brought a tent. The showers were awful and our toilet didn't flush. We had to reach down the back to fix the toilet every time. I went to sleep with crickets and woke up with spiders. I was not at all impressed with the so-called remodeling that they claimed to have done. Although we had a blast on the river, it took forever just to get checked in to go. Just a very poor place to stay with very poor facilities.

Most terrible place to stay
By ,
This place was the dirtiest place we have ever stayed. Cockroaches and spiders in our room!! Also if you ran the hair dryer it blew a fuse that they would not fix so we had no air conditioning in 100+ degree heat!! Would not recommend this place to anyone.
