Little Switzerland Cabins, Jasper

Spent the weekend at Little Switzerland cabins w/ friends this weekend. It was our first stay there and without a doubt one of the most enjoyable we've had while motorcycling throughout Arkansas. Nancy (owner) went above and beyond to make us feel welcome and comfortable. She offered her own covered porch to park our bikes under during a rain shower. Cabins are clean and charming. The newly rebuilt gazebo area was very relaxing too. We will not hesitate to call on Nancy every time we make Jasper our travel destination. Great experience all around and I VERY RARELY take time to rate things, this was one of those weekends that deserved it.

The lady who runs Little Switzerland and rents out Morwood House is nuts. She overcharged us, told us it was our fault, threatened to call the Sheriff and said she had pictures showing we trashed the hot tub. The kitchen sink doesn't have a garbage disposal and the front part of the cabin reeks of rotting food and just smells horrible. We avoided the kitchen and that part of the house. So much for small town charm and generosity. Not going to find it with Nancy that manages this place.

We have stayed at Mountain Garden Getaway several times, have thoroughly enjoyed the place every time and have never had any problems with the management but we know how to respect someone else's property. We did ask about the stuff we had read here on Yahoo and learned that the three posting from 2009 were all from the same family and you know that old saying "there are always two sides to every story". Well, this is one of those situations and if you want the truth just get the other side. Not only in words but photos.

The "Mountain Garden Getaway" was fine for our group, BUT... after we left the property in exraordinarily clean and orderly condition (I checked it), we were very unpleasantly surprised by an additional charge of more than $1,000 to our credit card, described as being for clean-up and repairs to the property. These charges were totally false, but not recoverable by us! This more than doubled the cost of our vacation there. This is a credit card scam to be avoided! We will never go back, and will tell all we know to avoid this place!

The way we were treated after check-out was unbelievable! We stayed a few days in one of the houses out in the woods and it was fine. We checked out thinking everything was great, the house was clean and we left. I was shocked to receive a credit card receipt weeks later in which they charged me additional fees upwards of $1300! Their explanations were things like...blankets folded, but not put back in appropriate places, game pieces out of order, and damage to fish in outdoor plastic fish pond. We have fought with these people about these bogus charges for months and only, so far, have received $350 back. I have learned NEVER to leave a credit card number on file at places like this. We are very unhappy customers!!!

if you use your credit card to pay for the rental. We rented the Mountain Garden Getaway house through Little Switzerland Cabins. Charges of over $1,300 were charged to our credit card after we left and had already paid the full rental amount. They claimed there were damages to the property. Everything was in good order when we left but since we didn't have them personally check us in or check us out, we could not prove we did not damage anything. Particularly, watch out fo the fish pond! This house is in the woods and there is a little pool of water for some large fish. The fish got hurt somehow, the fountain was not working at any time we were there yet we were charged for a replacement. It goes on and on. Our vacation stay cost approx $1,000 before the excess charge of $1,300 plus. The house worked well for our family but forget about the creek advertised on the property--it was down a steep cliff and we could not even see it. Watch out for charges relating to the hot tub! We added nothing but were charged for adding something to it. Again, you need to be checked in and checked out to avoid overcharges relating to this. Be sure to make sure the DVDs are all in order and in the correct cases. We were charged for mixing them up in the cases and leaving them not alphabetically stored. We watched 1 DVD during the entire time we stayed. After months of trying to get our money refunded, Little Switzerland management finally gave us back $350 of the over $1,300 overcharged. Needless to say, we were very unsatisfied with that final settlement. This visit certainly soured us on staying with this company again and has taught us to be very wary when leaving a deposit/payment with a credit card. Rating one star only because there is not a rating for zero.

We stayed 2 nights and I was very pleased. We paid only $76.30 tax and all per night and we could not be anymore happier. The place is close to everything in Jasper only 2 miles north on Hwy 7. The Cabin is the way to stay if its just 2 to 4 people. I dont know anything about a Morehead house but you will be pleased with the small cabins. We stayed in cabin #2. I will be staying here again...

My boyfriend and I and another couple stayed at the Morwood House last week and had a wonderful time. The house is kept very tidy and has just about all of the amenities to make you feel at home. The master shower was especially relaxing and spacious! It was also nice to have sattelite television and a gameroom in the evenings... though I think that some of the games could be updated. We never used the hot tub because it was too hot outside at the time. However, it was nice to know that we could if we wanted to. The views from the back of the house are breath-taking!!! Even at night... you forget how many stars there are when you live in the city. We saw shooting stars every night that we were there. The rooms were comfortable and had plenty of storage for unpacking. The kitchen had just about everything we needed to cook while we were there (minus the groceries). Overall, I was very pleased with my experience there. And the people that run the place seemed very friendly as well. It was also in a great location for the things that we wanted to do. I would recommend this place.

This was our third stay at Morwood House. In the past, it had been reasonable. We consisted of three couples and six children. We were charged an inordinate amount for our children to sleep in their sleeping bags on the floor for two nights - roughly $250! That doesn't include the roughly $450 that we paid for the adults. So - beware - if you have children - keep it quiet. We have enjoyed Morwood House in the past, but for that kind of money - it just doesn't measure up! Uncomfortable beds, cheap foam pillows, lights that don't work and a hot tub that won't turn off. We won't be back to Morwood House, or to any property run by the folks at Little Switzerland Cabins!
