Cash ONLY..Do not ask for a credit card

I really enjoyed my stay at Governor's Inn until I arrived home. I booked thru hotels.com and Paid $66.38 for the room. It was very much worth the fee. However, when I arrived home, I checked my balance over the internet. I had a charge of $66.38 from Hotels.com (they are great). I had an additional charge on my account of $200.00. I have leukemia and I am anemic so myimmune system makes me attract just about everything I come in contact with. I sprayed a full cam of antibacterial spray from corner to corner, wall to wall to kill the germs that hotels and motel are notorious for. I called hotels.com and they called me back and said they couldn't deal with the manager at Governor's Inn. All they sere smellingwas the antibacterial not smoke. The manager (Eric I believe is his name) and he said everyone who had stayed there said the smell was intollerable. I guess he didn't realize that I was the last one to stay in that room since I had left Sevierville. I ASKED FOR A RECEIPT UPON LEAVING AND TEY SAID TO CONATACT HOTELS.COM /I know things are bad financially for the accomodation trade in The Smoky Mountains, but this is rediculous and is not ethical at all. TALKING ABOUT TOURIST TRAPS..Goveror's Inn won the Best of theWorst for 2008. This is my opion of thier trade tactics. I wouldnt recommend testing it UNLESS YOU USE CASH

Not so bad
By Sweetmonkeymomma, 10/27/08
My family and I visted the Governor's Inn for 2 nights. We stayed in a King suite. When you first walk in you see the bedroom area the bathroom seperated it from the livingroom. The sofa turned in to a large bed. Two TV's (good for the kids). A large jacuzzi tub in the living area and the best part was the large wrap around balcony. The hotel is above a wildlife exhibit so we could see the kangaroos from out balcony. This room was very large which was great since we had a child under two with us. The staff was very nice. Breakfast was alright. Cereal (hot and cold) toast, english muffins biscuits and gravy, fruit coffee milk and juice. ( I think that was about all. I could be wrong) I only had one complaint. We received wake up call both mornings at 6 am. that we had not asked for. The staff was very apologetic. Overall A great stay. Hope to go back soon.

Would never stay again!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 10/07/08
The room layout was good, but the comforters, and linen were worn out. The hotel needs lots of updates. They advertise wireless access, not true only in the lobby. The staff with the exception of one male were rude and unfriendly. Especially, the hotel manager. Very, arrogant. Would never stay again, would not recommend. Had to borrow an half iron from front desk.

Nice hotel, great value
By JoshC, 08/06/08
It was a fairly new hotel (less than 5 years probably). Pool was a little on the small side but everything else was great! Booked through an online site and got a very good deal. We stayed three nights without any negative things to say at all. House keeping did a good job, front desk was friendly ad generally speaking we were very pleased for what we paid. A neat bonus is the fact that they have discount tickets to the rain forest next door, we had printed some internet coupons but the hotel actually had tickets cheaper than we would have paid with our coupon. Managment deserves cudos!

By A Yahoo! Contributor, 05/05/08
This was the first time we stayed there. It was recommended by some friends and they were right! It was great. The room was in excellent condition and very clean. The entire staff was friendly and very helpful. Ive already booked my next reservation because i would be disappointed to stay anywhere else from now on. Just look at the pictures on here..its true to life if not better when you arrive

Stayed there in Feb
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 02/25/08
I stayed at governors in on feb 19. It was great. The people were friendly and the hotel was magnificent. The room layout is modern and great for families. The Manager and front desk clerks were very helpful in guiding me to the best local places to enjoy shows and meals. I reccommend it to anyone who wants to hve a quiet, clean room with a beautiful mountain view. The beds were a little hard...but you have to expect that any hotel room is not like your own bed at home....anyways..I'll definatley stay there again.

Do Not Stay here if you want to sleep!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 02/19/08
This hotel was very, very loud, you could hear the toilets flushing from the floor above. The hall way ice machine makes all kinds of noises, along with the elevator (only one elevator works). The wallpaper border is peeling, smoke detector is hanging down from the ceiling, and the walls are marked and dirty. The pillows are flat and they do not have any extra ones. No courtesy items are offered, staff response is that Walmart is across the street. When I spoke to their manager Tracy, her reply is that hotel's are "loud". This hotel was not cheap in cost but cheap in quality! No internet access, it has been down for months according to David.

Very friendly staff and happy to help.
By Dawn B, 10/19/07
The lay out of the rooms are great! Very quite. The staff was happy to help. The hotel was kept clean inside and out. The only reason I won't be back is the beds were so uncomfortable I woke up with back aches etc..... I certainly didn't look forward to the 2nd night. If they change the matteress's and pillows I would go back but until then....
