Breakfast was amazing!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 2/24/11
I will never forget the North Road Inn. I have stayed in B&Bs, hostels and hotels throughout the western US, Canada, and Europe. At the North Road Inn I felt welcomed into a community of vibrant intelligent people from around the world. I traveled to Los Alamos for work and stayed at the North Road for about three months in total. Breakfast was the absolute highlight of my stay. I had the opportunity to get to know Cathy and Patrick very well along with many of the guests who came and went. Breakfast conversation ranged from scientific studies happening at the Los Alamos Lab, to discussions concerning the local environment, history of the town and surrounding areas, or sharing in a photo story of one guest's farm in France. The food was excellent, cooked to order! During my three month stay at the North Road I had the opportunity to stay in a few different rooms. All were clean and cozy and provided all of the amenities, such as internet, TV, a small refrigerator and microwave. There is also a beautiful view of the Sangre de Cristo mountains to the east from the upstairs deck. I highly recommend the North Road Inn to anyone visiting New Mexico. Many thanks to Cathy, Patrick, and all of the guests at the North Road who made my first few months in Los Alamos NM a wonderful experience!

Spacious, clean, warm and inviting
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 1/30/11
We stayed at this delightful inn for one cold night in NM. We found our 3-bedroom suite spacious, clean, warm and inviting. The beds were like a mother's lap. I want to order a mattress like this one. In the morning we were offered a breakfast of our choice--yummy blue corn pancakes--and some good conversation about the area. It seems this inn attracts international visitors! The darling old German Shepherd, the golden retriever, and the cute little daschund playing together just melted our hearts. We loved our hostess, Cathy, and count her among our friends now. We would stay there again and again, and I hope we can soon. Ann Raskopf

CHARMING INN, WARM HOSPITALITY, TERRIFIC COFFEE!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 1/28/11
my friend and I stayed at the North Road Inn while we were in Los Alamos. In December it had the feel of Christmas with white lights, a cozy fireplace, homey touches in the common kitchen/dining area. We had a 2 bedroom suite, and each room was nicely appointed, and the beds were comfortable. Temperatures in the teens the next morning were quickly dispatched by the fireplace, a cup of good, hot coffee, and blue corn pancakes: made especially at my request. I'm already planning another trip to Los Alamos so I can stay at North Road Inn.

Avoid like the plague.
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 2/20/10
Greeting us with the sort of face that only a mother could love, our charmless hostess Cathy snarled a North Road Inn welcome. We had just step over the threshold of the establishment - had we somehow upset her ? We can only assume that our inquiry regarding what facilities were available had detonated a tiny explosion within her. Quite what this woman is doing front of house is a complete mystery. Her attitude & general demeanor seem designed to actively discourage customers. Here is a women who would be suited working in an institution for the criminally insane. Still it's inn keeping with the general tackiness of the place ! If you feel in need of a joyless experience do visit - or alternatively get yourself arrested.

Horrible, avoid at all cost
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 8/27/09
The owner, Cathy, was rude and obviously did not enjoy having a hotel / B & B. The rooms are nothing like the website, it is old government housing with no upgrades since the 70's. original carpet, doors, cabinets, bedding?, etc. a standing room air conditioner has ven going out the door which prevents the door from closing or locking properly. The stick behind the sliding door is all that keeps the door closed.

A great place to stay!!!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 1/5/09
My 12 year old son and I stayed at the North Road Inn during a December 2008 visit to Los Alamos. We very much enjoyed our stay and thought that the Inn was great. The rooms were very large and extremely clean. The view off of the balcony was also great. I especially liked the fact that no smoking is allowed in any of the rooms. During our visit my son and I spoke with several other people who were staying at the Inn and they all were very pleased with their rooms. Cathy who is the owner of the Inn also prepares a great free breakfast Monday - Friday. My guess is that the one negative review on this website is from someone who arrived very late at night and was upset because they could not smoke in their room. I personally like to avoid these types of people, thus I was glad to hear that they chose to ended stay at a motel. Overall the North Road Inn is a great value and an excellent place to stay.

Great Place to Stay
By Mary, 7/7/08
My parter and I stayed here for a week while he was in Los Alamos for work, and it was perfect! Not only were the rooms large and comfortable (the kitchen was especially nice), the food in the morning was excellent and fast. Kathy, the owner, was also very helpful in suggesting activities in the area for me to explore while he worked. We will definitely stay at the North Road Inn again when we're in Los Alamos!

Low on Hospitality
By bruce h, 9/25/06
This is a great place to stay if you are down and need a good kick in the head. We stopped at this place late at night, attracted by a slightly lower quoted rate, tired and road weary. The owner acted like we were a big bother and was pretty rude. There were all kinds of pesky restrictions - WE are the customers aren't we? So we walked out the door tired and miffed to boot. After more wandering around town a bit more, we found excellent service at the Best Western. Put this Inn last on your list when staying in Los Alamos.

Stayed twice already
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 9/3/06
The North Road Inn provides a quiet peaceful ambience. Kathy provides a lovely breakfast in homely surroundings and is happy to give advice to tourists on quiet routes around Taos and Santa Fe. The two bedroom units with kitchen and living room are great for a family. We've stayed here twice and hope to return one day to use the North Road Inn as a base to explore the wonderful countryside around Los Alamos.
