We are going back.......
By ,
We have not been this year yet.We are plans pending. Hope to get everybody that is going together and head out here in a couple days Can hardly wait. We love ROCKY WATERS we been going for 35 yrs or more our kids and our grand kids all have fond memories of our stays here over the years. W e were so sorry to find out Lois had passed away. It just part of the bittersweet memories we have on our returns Memories of our kids when they were small The water melon floating in the creek to cool, the fish we caught smelling the air around us there on the grill, at thecreek bank. The kids hollering from the creek this water is like ice chilled to the bone but loving it .Ghost town trip scary going up the lift.. Now we sit back there on the deck and chill out and remember and making new memories all the time. The rooms are not so fancy but they are familiar and we are known there and remembered. Love uall Doris and Jay Hall. P.S . We will keep going back and bringing old friends new friends and new family memebers too

We try to visit every year.
By ,
This has been a family spot for us for some time now. I just want my children to remeber at least one place that we spent one of our vacations every year so hopefully they will enjoy it with thier children. It may not be a 5 star hotel to most but to my children and I it is a first class place to stay. We always go in the summer so they can enjoy the creek. After all day enjoying sliding rock, looking glass falls and maybe another trip to ghost town, we enjoy grilling on the grill beside the creek and have a nice fire to end the night. You always feel welcomed at Rocky Waters the family is so nice. So looking forward to taking my fiance and his children for their very first visit the weeken of July 4..

There was nothing we didn't like about Rocky Waters. Jim and Tom are awesome people. Jim was full of information about the area and gave us great tips for riding. The price was perfect for all you get. If you are in Maggie Valley please stay at this hotel you will be glad you did.....

We go every year!!!
By ,
My daughter and I go every year and we love it! We love the river beside it and the fall leaves in front. We love the cats roaming around. We love the owners, they are so sweet and friendly. We love to build fires by the river at night. The rooms are clean and it is in a great location...we would not stay anywhere else!

Cabin Are A Bit Too Rustic
By ,
My wife and I returned for a 31st anniversary Aug, 2008, to Rocky Waters. My mistake was selecting a cabin, thinking it might be a great get away. The smell inside was awful, the bathroom shower/tub was enclosed with a wrap around shower curtain, window to the outside included. The tub was very dated, and extremely slick. The bathroom sink dripped during the night. I'm sorry but this was not a very pleasant 31st anniversary return.

Home away from home
By ,
We really enjoyed our stay at Rocky Waters and loved Tom and Lois. We look forward to going back again and staying in the same room if we can. The atmosphere is great and the ground and rooms are very well kept. They are down to earth people that make you feel welcome. The home away from home experience was what makes us want to continue staying there. Thanks Tom and Lois we look forward to seeing you again!

Brought back memories....
By ,
This motel reminds me of the oldie-goldie motels of yesteryear that I stayed in as a child. The motel is definitely dated with paneling, stucco, and tile on the interior of the rooms. Swag lamps, jalouse windows, and antique chest of drawers do add a certain quaintness to the motel and room. I had no real service issues. I did have one request and that was promptly and courteously filled. The location was perfect; far enough away from everything,no traffice noise to mention; the motel is surrounded by trees, so it seemed as if you were miles away from anywhere, yet just a drive across the bridge is all it took to have access to everything Maggie Valley has to offer. Although this motel is old, the room was clean and had no musty smell to it. No telephone may have been the best "non-amenity" in the room. I did find the mattress to be way to soft for my liking. I stayed a couple of days and by the second morning, I was having some back issues. Nothing that put me in great pain, but enough to know that I had slept on a soft mattress. In fact, the mattress was bowed in the middle and is probably due to be replaced. Another issue I had was regulating the water in the shower (no bathtub in the room). I was constantly making adjustments to the valves because it would go from hot to cold and vice-versa. I don't know exactly what the problem was, but it was quite aggravating and someone may possibly get burned if not careful, especially a young child who can't operate the valves or reach them. The yard and landscaping were nice and the central area where the kids played stayed shady most of the time. Instant coffee is the only thing available and there is no continential breakfast offering. I did think the price I paid for the room, considering everything was just a little high. I probably would stay here again, but not for an extended stay if all the mattresses and water issues are the same in each room. My overall experience was not bad, but could have been better if the mattress and water issues weren't there. But, if you like soft beds and dancing in the shower, peace and quiet with the sound of a mountain stream in the background, this is definitely your place!!!!
