A bit old, but overall good
Despite being taken aback by the relatively small size of the upstairs rooms this hotel was nice. It is older but NOT run-down, so expect some of the things that go with that.
Right on the river, great view of Chimney Rock, walking distance from the local shops.
My upstairs (street level) room had two double beds. Me, my wife and my three small kids all slept comfortably. My dad was downstairs (river facing) and had one double bed in his room which made it seem more spacious.
Room was very clean and bathrooms were cleaner than many places I have been with high star ratings. Service from the owners was great. Very helpful, very conversational folks.
Amenities are weak if you are looking for a full-service bar and microwaves but I wouldn't call it a detraction. Ice is available and coffee in the mornings. Iron and hair-dryer available on request from the helpful staff. There is cable TV, but no internet, no in-room phone (YEAH!). A phone is available in the lobby/check-in area for calling card use though.
Folks, this is a better than average place if you are looking to get away from all the hustle and bustle, electronic gizmos, and rush and get into some relaxing time outdoors with a clean place to sleep, shower and maybe even read a book (GASP!).
