Green Cove Motel/Trailer Camp, Tellico Plains

This was like stepping into paradise. I took my 3 kids and 2 puppies primitive camping right past the Green Cove store and fishing camp area. It was right beside the water. The most beautiful cozy camping area we've been to. This is what real camping is suppose to be like.

I visited this motel at recommendations of my friend with my two sons. We paid for 2 nights but after spending 1 night in one of the dirty, roach infested rooms, we left the next morning. Bathroom was completely filthy; blankets on bed had hair all over them; and floor had not been vacuumed or swept it appeared the entire year. We brought our own sheets and put them on top of the bedding and slept fully clothed. We did catch our limit on rainbow troutt but if we go back we will sleep in our vehicle rather than this eyesore they call a motel.

I have a family cabin in Tellico on Riddle Hill. I've grown up spending my summers there and springs also. The people there are like nowhere else. Their hospitality is second to none.I will tell anyone to go fishing and camping there. It's great.

I have many memories of Green Cove, My husband and I have been going to the most beautiful river in Tennessee for 30 years. My son has grown up fishing that river for trout. He's is almost as good as the local expert. The local caretakers are more than friends they are family. I can relax along the river by the campfire and read. There are no ammenities, but this is what we love about Green Cove, you can totally relax and the stress just melts away. I hope it never changes.

Ive been visiting Green Cove since 1979. I've been going back for thirty years because it hasnt changed. Sure it's no five star resort but when my wife and I need a place to get away and just relax, do a little fishing or sit by the fire, there is no better place. Over the years I've gotten to know the folks that own and run the place like family and have made several freinds who are also repeat visitors. It's not for everyone......but what is.

Just a word to start....Roaches. Lots of them, used furniture in poor condition. Dust and mold that would grow be better seen under the microscope. Our blankets actually had dog hairs on them. Will not go back, will drive up and stay in town .

I have been going to the Green Cove for close to 25 years. It is the best place to go if you want to be in the wilderness and not camp out. Others have said it is not a 5 star hotel and they are correct, but I have no interest in staying somewhere with 5 star hotel types, if you know what I mean. Wonderful people run the place, the location is beautiful, and every time I go I meet the most interesting folks. The price is great.Time to go back soon.

The main thing for me is the nostolga of the many days my family and I have enjoyed on the Tellico River, my wife, my daughter and grandsons, fishing, relaxing. recounting previous trips. We stay in the same two rooms at the Green Cove Motel, not a fancy place by any measure, but if you view the picture I posted you will see the deck is almost out over the river. The management folks are great, friendly and gracious. The scenery is outstanding. The stream trout fishing is good. The road is good. Take your own stove and cooking utinsels, also a fan in summer. If you are looking for a place to relax, fish, unwind, this is it. If you are wanting great facilities and don't care to fish, don't go.

The drive up to Green Cove is spectacular! We loved the view. It had a deck out the back door right over the river. It was peaceful, beautiful and quiet. Friendly service. $50 per night. Not for prissy, picky people however. These rooms are mainly used by trout fisherman who don't mind a little dust. Our room had NO BUGS, but the floor was dusty and it smelled musty when we first walked in. We just opened the windows and enjoyed the fresh mountain air. The bed and bathroom were clean. Nothing fancy or luxurious, but it had a kitchenette and all the provisions that we needed for a relaxing weekend on the river away from the hustle of city life.

I have been going to the Green Cove Motel for well over a decade. Coming from Cincinnati, it is the closest fly fishing mecca I know of---that holds that true, one of a kind draw. True, the accomodations are not 5 star by a long shot, BUT the management and the ambience is like nothing you will ever find, bar none. It is a GREAT value for the money and the location can not be beat. RLP
