Pony Island Motel, Ocracoke

We have been staying here off and on since 1968 and just love it! It is convenient, has a great pool and the staff is very friendly. Thanks Pony Island Motel!

Went to Ocracoke for the first time and stayed at this beautifully clean motel. Our room was the cleanest I think I have ever stayed in and we travel regularly. The bathroom was perfect- made me want to go home and scrub mine. The restaurant was great and service was excellent. We were with a group from Virginia Beach and everyone I asked agreed this was a great experience. The people at the front desk seemed genuinely glad we were there. Will definitely visit again.

Variety of rooms. They have always been very clean and comfortable. I've stayed at the Pony at least 25 times over the last 23 years. The staff & owners are very nice people and have always treated us great. I've stayed in the cottages also & they are very nice. The location is perfect because you aren't right in town but you can walk to all the restaurants and shops and it is a short 4X4 drive to the beach. My son and I surf fish & my wife loves the beach & shops so the whole family is happy. The prices are great for a family vacation. The island is my favorite vacation spot and the Pony Island motel is the only place I stay. The restaurant next door is fantastic for breakfast too.

Very small, basic rooms, lacking in ammentities. Bathroom extremely small and pokey. No King size beds. No space for luggage. Whilst the room was clean, the sink was not particularly clean, Room was too small for more than one night. Service poor, both with the motel staff and the restaurant staff,.

they have a variety of clean spacious rooms. perfect location! quiet and close to everything. nice people. they let us see every room and make our choice. every room is very clean and can accomodate a small or large group. nice pool. nothing bad or even close to say about this place.

This will mark our 12th summer staying at the Pony Island Motel. We spend two relaxing, peaceful weeks at this outstanding family-owned and operated motel every August. The property is lovingly maintained from year-to-year. The guest rooms and suites are clean, comfortable, and well-equipped, the pool is a terrific alternative to the beach, and the entire staff is so gracious and warm.

I reserved a room at the Pony Island Motel late evening before getting on the ferry to Ocracoke Island. I just pulled their phone# from my travel magazine, unsure of where they were located or what the motel was like at all. Upon arrival we were greeted by a friendly front desk lady and our room was SOOOOOO CLEAN!!! I could have eaten off the bathroom floor! The room was nice and cool from the A/C when we arrived and I have never seen such a clean hotel room in my life! Very helpful staff also! i would definately stay here again if I am on Ocracoke Island!!

We spent the weekend with another couple and decided to share a room since all other rooms were booked. Reluctantly, we felt we would be cramped 4 in a room. After we got to our room on the 2nd floor, we were pleasantly pleased with the amount of space we had. It was enough for all 4 and very clean. We enjoyed our weekend and plan to do it again!

We have been staying at the Pony Island Motel for 20 yrs. plus and have enjoyed each and every stay. They are the most accommadating hotel I think we have every stayed with in all of our yrs. of traveling. Very friendly and ready to make your stay enjoyable. We love the old section because it reminds us of what Ocracoke was many years ago. We also like the old section because it fits our fishing needs perfectly. We have stayed in the new section and really think it is very nice. We do prefer the old section.

This motel is on the edge of the village area, so it is a great location to be near the shops and restaurants (a block away from the Back Porch restaurant--yum!) but not in the middle of all the crowds. Stayed on the 3rd floor, so we had to lug our bags up the flights of stairs, and the walls were paper thin in between adjoining rooms (heard the crying baby next door) but other than that, it was comfortable and clean.
