Bluff Shoal Motel, Ocracoke

Loved this place!! Clean, friendly and great central location to everything and the rates are very reasonable. I've stayed here for years and I have never had any problems with my reservations and neither have my friends whom I recommend whole-heartedly. Sadly, I've known folks that get mixed up as to which motel they've talked to and make reservations with. Bluff Shoal Motel is a great value and I'll continue to stay there whenever I can.

Bluff Shoal This hotel does not give confirmation numbers out over the phone nor do they use email. Until they change their methods I would not rely on having a room upon arrival. They will send you confirmation via snail mail but, you better be home to assure you get their letter. If this takes a week during the busy season I hope you can find another room if they screw up. After reading a lot of comments posted for hotels at Ocracoke I choose Bluff Shoal. Last month I called about three weeks ahead and booked a room for one night and told the girl I would not be home to get the confirmation letter but she refused to give me my confirmation number over the phone. We left home before receiving our confirmation letter and upon arrival they did not any record of my booking nor did they have any rooms available. I would not trust a reservation with this hotel.

Clean place and very nice staff. Picked us up at the airport no charge! Nice deck on Silver Lake to watch the sun set in the evenings. Close to everything.

A small motel in the middle of town with the most friendly people you could imagine.We were traveling on our motorcycle and couldn't bring some of the comforts of home(hairdryer) they shared one .Coffee in the morning at the office.Clean rooms.What more could you ask for at a reasonable price.Thanks for making us feel at home

In the days of generic highway hotels that all look pretty much alike, it's so nice to see a genuine mom-and-pop motel with a home-like atomosphere, terrific service, wonderful location and great value in a highly-sought vacation area. From the moment I walked in the door of the office, I knew I would like this motel, and when I entered my room, I felt like I was at home. We found this place entirely by accident, and the next time we know we're headed to Ocracoke, the only place we'll consider is the Bluff Shoal Motel.

We had a fantastic 5 days at the Bluff Shoal. It's absolutely spotless, and has an excellent location right in Ocracoke Village. The service we received was top-notch. It has a few amenities that elevate it above similar locations, particularly its location right on the harbor with a deck for guests to use. There's also coffee (though not a full breakfast) in the mornings and bikes for guests to use. The motel's small size allowed for privacy. Prices are affordable even in high season. Highly recommended!!

the Bluff Shoals is the perfect place to unwind and just relax and it's location gives you access to food, fun and sun. I camp at the Ocracoke Camp grounds every year and at the end of my trip I stay at the Bluff Shoals. It is the perfect ending to the perfect vacation. So I would recommend this hotel to anyone who is looking to relax and take in the sights of Ocracoke. The fact that it is inexpensive is just a plus

Great spot, very clean, very family-friendly. Staff was very accomidating. Sitting on the porch watching the world go by while enjoying a cocktail was very relaxing. Very nice view of the Old Ocracoke Lighthouse.
