WARNING: Hotel staff is not customer friendly
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 7/5/11
Rented a room form the Langston Hotel. The room had some quilts on the bed that looked like something off the bates motel. the rugs were worn and toliet ran, not to mention bugs....Me and my Husband decided not to stay, but would return to enjoy the lake with family members.....little did I know that the hotel has a policy (not in writing)you can only have a certain number of people on the beach as guest...I was asked to leave and only got a third of my money refunded....the clerk was extremely nasty to me and my guest.

Will be back for the 4th of july
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 6/2/11
The 2nd floor apartment rental was nice and clean, appliances were clean, the owner done an outstanding job to make my family comfortable. The pictures that you see online for Langston's are not upto date, yes its cinderblock but for the great price who cares its a great place to get away to with the family. We have always visted different parts in whitelake during the summer and I have never been unhappy with any of the trips.

Rooms do not match descripition
By DennisE, 5/17/11
Lady is the office sems very nice, but gives out the same description of the rooms to everyone and they do not match reality. None of the room are lake front and there is no refund. Several pepole I met there said that they were told their room would be x, Y, and Z but they were not and to get the room she described to you have to pay more. I will never stay there again.

it was probably a nice place back in the 50's
By Mike, 5/1/11
I don't live far from White Lake but decided to stay a weekend so the kids could feel like it was a getaway. The motel is made of cinderblock. There's only one a/c unit and the rooms were very hot all night. There were some "iffy" looking people staying in several rooms next to us. I worried about my car all night. No waterfront room at all; just close to water. Didn't try the stove/oven, so not sure. I imagine this place was decent and probably the norm back in the 50-60s but it's extremely basic. I can only assume that many of the other motels that line the street here are in the same condition. I think we'll just enjoy the lake for the day and drive home next time...or maybe camp out at Camp Clearwater? The door to our room looked very old school + I joked about being able to break in using a credit card. I tried once with my Blockbuster card and got right in. I felt sick knowing this as we left to find dinner, as the roughnecks watched us leave. We brought our kids and I'm a little afraid to find out if they or we get lice or some other problem. The place is old and I know you can only do so much, but wow.

Good clean motel
By lovevacation, 7/10/09
I have been going to White Lake for about 25 years. There are a couple places we stay, depending on who has what we need available that year. The motel is old but kept clean. I think every motel around the lake was built around the same time so you will not find Holiday Inn or Best Western comfort. They DO have rooms that face the water. However, there is no motel on the lake that you can walk out the door and be on the sand. I do have to agree with one of the other posters about the noise above you. I will never stay here again unless I can get a top floor room. We were to stay 3 nights last year but on the last afternoon, we left after supper. You can hear EVERY noise and even the conversations above you. Ear plugs may help, but not even sure they will work!! This is definately a family place to vacation where you can feel safe.

Depends on what you like....
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 5/28/09
Rooms are old, but appear to be clean. Nothing fancy. You don't mind walking in with sand on your feet. However, NONE of the rooms that I could see are ON the water as advertised. You must walk across parking lot and/or around building. Our advertised "Water Front" room didn't even have a VIEW of the lake. You can hear EVERY footstep of the people above you. If kids/drunks/teenagers are staying above you, prepare for a restless night, as they stomp up the stairs or across their room. You can also hear their conversations, though admittedly, some of that can be quite entertaining. The people running the motel were very nice. The beach and water was as beautiful as everyone describes. If you enjoy sitting on a chair in sand, wading in water to cool off, and not worrying about the safety of your little children, White Lake is awesome. About 2 days is the limit though before you get bored. One evening at the Arcade is enough, and then there's nothing left to do. The area around the Arcade is like a time capsule, frozen in the 1950's. A few teen punks/thugs around the Arcade at night, make you feel a little "uneasy", but there are police officers on site which make you feel safer, and we didn't see any trouble during our 4 days there. We will return for weekends or daytrips, but will probably try other motels. Not that other motels, will be any better (as they all appear the same), but we want a room ON the water.

My family and I can't wait to go back!!!!
I really liked the location and how friendly everyone was to us at the motel. The is rooms are very clean and right on the lake with crystal clear water. We really enjoyed the stay and wouldn't stay any where else. Our friends advised us that this is a good place and we want to advise everyone else. Great place for kids.
