Sail Inn Motel, Myrtle Beach

This is indeed one of the older places in Myrtle Beach, but that's also one of its attractions. Anyone can stay in a chain motel/hotel - it's not fair to compare a 1950's place with a modern hotel. If you can't see that difference when you drive up, you probably need new glasses. We had no problems with bugs, though we struggle (like everyone) with them at home occasionally - bugs are a fact of life in coastal Carolina. The owner works very hard, and was always very prompt and polite in answering our many questions and giving advice regarding the local area. The only problems we had were people from neighboring motels (mostly on the east side of Ocean) parking in the Sail Inn spots. It seems that some of the others here are professional complainers - we would definitely recommend the Sail Inn as a place to stay. At no time did the owner of the Sail Inn, or its appearance serve to misrepresent itself in any way.

This place looked like it had not been cleaned or updated since 1970. The paint is all cheaped off everywhere. The pool is very tiny and there is no elevater even though they have three floors. The room is closed off and there is no balcony just a little bitty window to look out.The beds do not have fitted sheets on them just a sheet covering it and the bathroom has no bathtub just a stand up shower that is not big enough to accomodate anyone that is slightly overweight. Also, the bathroom is so small that only one person can fit in it at a time. There was suppose to be a full kitchen and that was so gross I would never want to cook or eat anything from it, it was very small and everything was so old there was rust all over it. This place is not fit for convicts let alone your family and loved ones. Please don't wasted your money staying here. The manager is very mean and nasty. I am going to report her to the better business bureau.

We did NOT stay at the Sail Inn but I can tell you firsthand that the person who did review it IS NOT LYING! We had a run-in with the ugliest, the most haggard-looking Cruella DeVille I have ever seen in my life! Turned out to be the OWNER of the Sail Inn! She looked like a reject from Sons of Anarchy! Got mad at us for parking near her EMPTY parking lot! As she was "cleaning" the rooms I took a peek inside; GROSS is not a strong enough word! It looked like a life-sized roach motel! And the only cleaning she actually did was she took ONE trash can out of one room and pulled up some weeds completely blocking entry from another. NOBODY was staying there and it was PACKED at Myrtle Beach this week! This place is the sort of seedy place that should charge by the HOUR, if you get my drift! BEWARE THE HORRORS (AND THE EVIL WENCH THAT OWNS THIS DUMP) OF THE SAIL INN!! Ew, ew, ew!!!
