rustic, charming, spotless
By ,
Huge improvement. New owner Avi is dedicated to making the motel clean, comfortable, inviting. There is now a fenced in dog area, a hot tub, WiFi, sparkling pools. The rooms are spotless, with new sinks, air conditioners, beds, and furniture. Avi is completely renovating rooms, bit by bit. If you need something, just ask. Avi goes above and beyond to make sure his customers are satisfied. New landscaping is lovely, especially the water feature and Koi pond. Adequate parking, even when the motel had no vacancies. A very nice, family and pet friendly place. Convenient to beach, shopping, restaurants. We will return, and have recommended the Mariner to friends and family.

Give this place a try!
By ,
I have stayed here 10+ days for the last three years. At first (3 years ago) I called it "Sunset Blvd" after the movie. It wasn't the best but wasn't offensive, and for the price I thought it was hard to keep up. At least some of it was built in the 50's and there are maintainance issues. Last year the owners had made excellent progress, it is almost as good as where I had stayed for 20+ years, the Mustang on 76th and Ocean Blvd. It closed and was torn down during the real estate boom and was a vacant lot for a couple of years. The Mariner has a lot going for it, very low-rise, pet friendly, attentive staff, low country feel, two pools, tends to attract a crowd of laid back patrons- some of this is the pet-friendly atmosphere. I have a dog, but she can't accompany me, however pet owners tend to be social people. Young adults and church groups come as well, and everyone interacts. I will return this summer and for many beyond.

Bad Deal
By ,
The service was really bad. The new owners were not polite and lots of dead bugs in the rooms. The rooms were not cleaned and the pools where horrable. The location was nice. Only a few blocks from the beach. Value was not the best. Will never stay there agin.

Run Down
By ,
We have stayed at this hotel for the last several years, and had always considered it a family retreat with our children, and pets. We were dismayed at how rundown the place had become under the new owners, no staff there in the evening, air conditioners didn't work, dirty, pets ppoping all over, I couldn't even take my children into the pool, because people were taking their dogs in them. With no staff to enforce rules, the place has run amuck! They used to have a nice continental breakfast, family evening socials and dinners, and doggie socials with bones. The place was very family and pet oriented. No longer, the new owners are obviously out only for profit. The few days we were there (we cut the visit short). A church group was there, and the hotel put up signs all over reserving parking for them. There was no place to park for anyone else. We heard many complaints by other visiters. Sad to say after 7 years of visits, we will not return

My favorite place to stay
By ,
This place is literally my favorite to stay. My family has been going there since my 65 year old uncle was born. I fell in love with it's relaxed atmosphere, palm trees, two clear pool water, hammock, delightful staff, and it's convienency to the beach and many other enjoyable places such as The Pavilion, Theme parks and amazing restruants. I've had my share of great memories here. My soccer team travels down here to play in tournaments and we always stay in suites across the street. Those hotels are very nice and attractive but The Mariner is where I'd prefer to stay.
