This has got to be the worst place on the beach!!! It was soooo dirty and nasty. It looked like it was 100 years old with no updates and no maids to clean all the growth and mold out of the bath tub and don't call the front desk and as for a refund because you wan't get it or anything else for that matter. The ice machine also had gross mold and gunck build up on it. The table and chairs were broke and the paint was peeling off the walls. This place REALLY needs to be closed down. I will be calling the Health Department on this place!!! Needless to say we moved to another hotel about an hour or so after we checked in and lost our $70.+ dollars that night!!! WHAT A RIP OFF!!! I would "NOT" stay here if they payed me $70. a night!!!! DLO & family from North Carolina
He forgot to mention the horrible elevators which was dirty, the buttons had two different numbers on them so at first you wont know what button to push. It randomly works whenever and the nice stuff carved into the doors and frame of it was great. I dont think house keeping ever heard of a vacuum cleaner. Our house keeping consisted of bringing us clean (Dirty) towels and taking out our garbage. They smoked while they were cleaning our rooms. We had to go to the store and buy hand soap and we bought wash cloths and just used our beach towels. The door to our balcony prettty much was in pieces and we could barely get it open. The refrigerator was missing the door handle and I had to turn it on the highest setting just to get it over room temp. Have fun trying to find a luggage cart to load and unload your stuff. And also the doors had actual keys instead of cards, I mean who does that!
Where do I even begin? First off, when you check in you stand on line behind irate people who want their money back (they don't get it). If that's not enough to scare you off, reconsider. The convoluted dark dank stairways that take you to your "room" look like what I'd expect from Beirut in the 1980's (search if you're not familiar it's more accurate than the pics on the website for this place). At any moment I expected some masked machine gun toting terrorist to start hosing the place down. Even without the spectre of a machine gun firing madman the pavement is uneven, the corridors are dark, and nasty. I fear for elderly victims who may fall here. If you are brave enough-or foolish enough- to continue on to the "room" you'll be greeted with a strange odor. Try to imagine mildew, unwashed feet, spoiled food, stale cigarette smoke, and vomit. The bed in our room was so close to the door you could barely open it. While sitting on that bed (we had yet to notice that many of the odors were coming from it) pizza coupons were being slid through the very pronounced gap in the door frame. In fact we had a huge collection of them even after a short time away from the room. We have stayed in other area hotels and haven't experienced this phenomenon. Either the other hotels don't allow this sort of solicitation or people in this hotel are expected to eat inhuman amounts of pizza. In either case, it wasn't comforting to know that a mugger, rapist, or worse may be using this activity as a cover. Every surface in the room floor walls, table, fridge, CEILING, and bed had cigarette burns- not the small ones either. It looked like someone lit a pack (or twelve) of Marlboros and just randomly put them anywhere they saw fit. There was a paint encrusted bottle opener bolted to the door frame to the "bath". While that alone isn't cause for alarm I couldn't help but wonder what sort of IV therapy would be needed if one cut themselves on it. It certainly wouldn't be anything so mundane as a tetanus shot. Once in the bath the toilet was running constantly and I can't say I blame it. The shower had sand and hair in it. The room next to ours connected to ours via an internal door. Not only could we hear their "activities" but we could smell them as well. The TV was a mixed blessing. On one hand it worked (surprise!) and provided a brief respite from the dismal surroundings we found ourselves in. On the other hand It also showed other hotels and smiling people who seemed to be gloating at us, expect this sort of paranoia/insecurity to set in fairly early in your stay. The window mount A/C had two settings- off and north pole. Our view was of a deck where people were sunbathing. When people are obviously painfully sunburnt and show no real motivation to move indoors you can draw your own conclusions on how really awful this place is. Under said deck was the pool which had milky water and a weird foam in it. The parking was to use a clichee a nightmare. We actually felt sorry for leaving the poor car in such surroundings! That thought quickly evaporated when we realized its parking slot next to a smelly dumpster were better than ours (IN the smelly dumpster!). Overall the place needs to be either gutted and rebuilt or torn down. My vote is for the latter. I would hate to think that someone who has never been to South Carolina before might form their opinion of us based on this miserable pit. Please, as a native of South Carolina, I beg do not stay in this hotel nor form your opinions about us on this! As a once upon a time, sometime, part time writer all I have to say is : "This place is exactly how I'd picture some run down low level drug cartel hideout in a third world country."
I have a little over 250 characters left in this review. As a writer, I am spent. The trauma surrounding my stay is so great that I cannot articulate as well as I normally could. If this review hasn't helped you... seek some sort of help-please!
Spent one night last year..that was enough. Young people partied ALL NIGHT long. Tried to get in pool...too many young couples actually having *** in the pool!! Yelling, screaming, cursing, and drinking all night long. Won't even mention the hard bed, nasty stinking rooms, dirty bathrooms...nightmare at beach.
we booked our room back in oct of 2008 on the net with priceline dot com. we called several times to ask about what the hotel looked like and the things they had. we asked about if they had a lot of partiers they said no. it was to have a kitchen with everything you needed to cook and be at home. what we got was 2 forks, two spoons, two pots no pans 2 plates. holes in the wall, the wake up service did not work. people yelling screaming all day and night. young kids cussing screaming. parties all nite long. we called the front desk at 2:00 am they where not there. we went to the office to complain and a few others where there checking out because it was the crappiest diretist nasty place they had ever stayed at. the people at the desk told us to call the police if we could not sleep because that is what they do all the time the police where use to getting complaints from them. the sheets where nasty, we got no clean linen for two days. the walls where full of holes, the carpet in the room and in the hall stunk from being rotted and wet. we checked in on thursday night saturday morning we went out our door and there was someone passed out in the hall by the steps with puke all over the place. THIS IS LISTED AS A 4 STAR ON THE SITE BUT IT CLEARLY IS A DUMP PHOTOS CAN BEE SEEN AT firstname.lastname@example.org by request. the ele stove had crap in the oven the 4 burners only two worked. the pool and hot tub was dirty and the people next door smoked dope all weekend the smell came through the ajoining door. the bath tub was so nasty you could barely take a shower. the toilet leaked all over the floor. DO YOUR SELF A FAVOR DONT STAY HERE WE NEVER WILL.
I have traveled my whole life and i have stayed at some nasty hotels but i stayed at this hotel in the summer when prices are around $100 a night. I booked one night from their website. The pictures on the website have got to be of a different hotel. To start the trip we arrived late, so i called to make sure my reservations were still good and was afraid that we would have trouble getting a room for the next night so i requested another night. They were so nice and even told me that they were going to upgrade my room to an ocean side view room. I was excited. When we finally arrived there were no parking spots drove around for an hour just trying to park the car. Apparently there are not enough spots for the rooms. I checked in to a nasty front dest area. There were people in front of me complaining about their rooms. I gave them the benefit of doubt and checked in. They have actual keys to the rooms, not cards. When we arrived to the room i found a dingy and worn out room. We had trouble getting into the room. Seems like the key was made of aluminum foil. We didnt care so we threw our stuff down and went to the beach at night. When we returned we broke the key, bent like butter. I called the front desk and 45 minutes later a man came up. He used his key and bent his to pieces also. 30 minutes later he came back with another key which he finally got us into our room. Unfortunatly he broke the lock, instead of offering us another room he asked us not to leave our room the rest of the night and that it would be fixed in the morning. So we basicly got trapped in this nasty hotel and had to order pizza for dinner since we couldnt leave. Needless to say we requested our money back for the next night the following morning, only to be harrassed by the rude staff. Also that Ocean side view room which they upgraded us to was a view of the balcony of the Oceanside View hotel which was next door. I will always read reviews of a hotel before i stay there for now on.
During a weekend stay at Polynesian me and my friends got ROBBED. We were out of the room for 1 1/2 hours to go swimming. When we came back we found that our wallets and money our gone, including our credit and ATM cards. The worst thing is that the hotel staff was very unfriendly in assisting us in trying to identify possible suspects of who may have access to the room. We felt that it was an inside job. The staff only gave us 1 of the 2 key locks. The police officer who investigated told us that there are a lot of robberies and break-ins in this hotel and the this particular hotel is the only one without the electronic key lock in that area. The doors can be easily picked and the hotel clerk told us there are no hotel staff available after 3pm. The bathroom leaked. The alleyways are easily accessible to outsiders. The rooms, elevaters alleys are Dingy. It looks more like a cheap motel. Stay Away.
My friend and I stayed here for 5 days and that was enough! The woman who checked us in was just plain RUDE! She didn't smile and gave us a bad impression of the hotel before we even saw the room. We were not informed that we were going to need a $100 security deposit because we were not 25 yrs. old! We had to take inventory in our room and return the list of the what we found within the hour. We had to count the towels, dishes, sheets, pillows, etc. (Apparently, this was all because neither of us were 25 yrs. old.) The hallways, stairways and elevators need some major updating! They were stained and smelled really weird!! We were given no directions on how to find our room and when we did get directions they were wrong!! Our room was clean, as well as the bathroom. The AC worked great and beds were in good shape. But the dishes provided in our kitchen were in terrible shape and we only had two cups and two plates. The bottom of the bathtub was stained from years of people washing off sand. The balcony was in need of a paint job, along with rest of the hotel. The location was perfect, right on the beach! But the parking garage was horrible! It was dark and scary! Not a place where two girls felt safe after dark. The staff was rude and smoked in the hallways! Housekeeping did a good job cleaning our room and she was a very pleasant girl, but the smoking in the halls is uncalled for! Upon checking out we had a very nice woman but we had to wait while they searched our room for damages. (again because we were not 25 yrs old.) This took up more time and made us late getting on the road! I would not recommand the hotel for anyone! Don't believe the pictures you see on the internet or in magazines!
