This is a very clean Mom and Pop type of hotel. All rooms arre direct Ocean front and there is a very large pool with large pool deck. It also has a kiddie pool!!!half of the rooms have kitchenette.
The rooms are in a complete overhaul and the pool is now a salt water pool!!! They areadding a resturant and bar area onone side of the pool. We rented a golf cart there and drove to the Pier to dance!!!It was a great week!!! Would reccommend
For over 30 yrs we have stayed at the Garden City Inn. However, over the past few years we have seen the physical condition deterioate to the point that we may have to find another place to stay. The atmosphere is still there but management desperately needs to clean up the Inn. It would be so sad if it was sold and another high rise take it's place. Please don't let this happen. We will be there this coming October and if
improvements have not been made, it will be our last.
Yes it's older. Yes it is a mom and pop place. Yes the staff sometimes weren't at the desk, but when they were, they would go out of their way to get me what I needed, once even letting me log onto their internet as I had lost my phone and needed a contact number badly.
If on the first floor, you literally walk out of your room onto the pool deck which by the way is great. My friends were all right next door at an expensive condo, and I was happy right there in my room equipped with a kitchen and all I could need on my vacation.
I will be back.
My girlfriend and I went down on the spur of the moment without reservations. After stopping at a few hotels with rediculous prices per night, we stopped at the Garden City Inn. My grlfriend went in to check for a vacancy, and price. We got a room there for 4 nights for a very reasonable price. This is an older property, so if you are looking for a fancy hotel with all the frills, and are willing to pay close to 200.00 a night, don't stop here. Our stay was very enjoyably, with no complaints at all. We were on the second floor with a balcony overlooking the pool. It had a full size fridge, full size coffee maker, 2 queen beds, all we needed. We enjoyed it so much that we are already planning to go back in October for a full week.
I am not sure why some of the negative reviews. We stayed in a 2 bedroom fully equipped unit with magnificent ocean views. Yes it is an older building, but it is clean and well maintained.
For the price, it cannot be beat. If you are paying $1000 for a summer week and are expecting the Marriott, this is unrealistic. Keep in mind that this is a timeshare unit and there is no daily maid service. They will replace your towels daily and change your bed linens mid-week.
We can't wait to go there again next year.
So it was a great price for being a last minute Summer Vacation. Couldn't find anywhere to stay and they had a vacancy. We checked in no problem the staff were more than courtious and very helpful. The room was clean, needed updating but comfortable. The beds however were horrible but what do you expect, it's not home. The View was beautiful and made up for all of it! The beach access is right at your fingertips and the pool is right out you door. All in all it was a decent hotel for being older but I reccommend asking for room 105 when you check in if it is available. It is a bigger room and has a full sized kitchen in it for the same price.
Room was dirty. AC filter didn't look like it had been cleaned all summer. Bugs were crawling in floor. Shower was busted and would not drain. Nobody was there to check us out on Sunday. I stayed here in 2006 and it was much better. Will not stay there again.
I liked the fact that it is located on the beach. The pool and the deck is as nice as any on the beach.
I disliked the fact that the room was not cleaned in the four days we stayed. Sheets were never changed and the room was never vacumed (sand was everywhere in the carpet.) We were handed clean towels and wash clothes each day and that was the extent of cleaning. The carpet needs to be replaced very bad.
After riding all over Myrtle Beach for hours looking for a room that was clean and priced decent or even had a vacancy for that matter and almost overpaying for a dump, we decided to get our money back and look some more. It was like heaven when we found Garden City Inn. We had a nice room with 2 double beds and an ocean/pool view that was to die for. Loved it!!! D. Duncan (NC)
