Best kept secret
By ann, 7/1/08
Lots of cool people stay there so chances are great you may meet one. A politician, the gov Bill, movie stars from movies recently made nearby, people who have something to do with The Spaceport and more make Sierra Grande their default place to stay. There is lack of journalists and paparazzi to bug anyone nor is it tolerated, could be one reason why it is this respected oasis. The hot mineral baths are hot and feel great! Though downtown, the town is quiet. There is a casita next door also for hire as well as a conference center. Security is not an issue since TCPD is next door, (next to the casita). Breakfast is wonderful. ALL goods are made on location. It is sort of like something between continental and full breakfast, (no charge for boarders). The granola is even home made. Plenty of quality teas in a basket and a hotpot of reverse osmosis water, makes the tea best. the water in TorC is highly mineralized, so bottled water is best. Unfortunately, their bar/restaurant is not open except for breakfast. When you decide to go out for prepared food be sure you realize that the mineralized city water can be a problem for people with high blood pressure....it happened to me. One can imagine a pot of soup or sauce being reheated and accumulating its concentration of mineral salts by evaporation. At this place both reverse osmosis and sometimes even distilled water is used for breakfast treats. All the staff is wonderful!

Absolutely A Great Place!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 3/7/08
This spa was a perfect little getaway on our way from El Paso to Phoenix. The staff was so attentive and helpful, the hot spring tubs soothing & relaxing, the rooms extremely comfortable, the continental breakfast delicious (great homemade bread). I love the spa products and have since ordered for myself. Cannot wait to return this Summer!

nicest hotel between denver & t.orc.
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 2/7/08
our experience at the sierra grande is still special because we found this to be the newest, cleanest, quietest and best value hotel on our trip between denver & truth or consequences. we really enjoyed the private spa, the proximity to downtown, and most of all the large, modern room because of the views and the first class bed. we stayed for 2 nites and wished we could have stayed longer. many hotels since have been measured and come up lacking compared to this one, and we would definitely try to reserve another stay at this fine hotel on our next trip to the area.

False Advertising

Every year my hunting buddies go to Ted Turner's ranch near Truth or Consequences. We made reservations on-line with this place only to find the price wasn't honored when we arrived. Not only that, they charged us $40 more per night. Then they brought in roll-a-way beds for some of my buddies because they didn't have enough beds. And this was supposed to be a luxury hotel? We tried to schedule a masssge in their so-called spa, but were told nobody was available. I guess after great effort, they found someone, but then changed the appointment twice and finally booked it on top of our dinner hour! We cancelled. If you go to the town, stay somewhere else. And, get a great massage from a wonderful therapist and excellent host for the town, April Heather. She opened her own spa in the downtown historic hot springs district called Good Medicine Spa Boutique & Gallery. And, most importantly, she heard about our bad experience, and turned our visit into an enjoyable spa visit by accommodating our schedule every step of the way giving my party massages both Friday evening and Sunday morning at OUR convenience. She's good and very knowledgeable about the area. She's your best choice in town.
