Burnt to the ground.
By M. A., 12/2/09
The hotel fell victim to an overnight fire that gutted the building.

Re-Opening Update (more towards November 2009)
By TigerMom14, 10/11/09
The new owners are working feverishly to open at the end of October. I stuck my head inside the momentarily opened door other day (10/10/09) and it was a busy beehive of activity. Wow! They have had to replace much of the old kitchen and generally, upgrade to meet codes, etc. Thus, the delay from the original word on the street opening date of October 1st. Hang in there, everyone! The new owners really seem to be striving to be a class act and do Hotel Talisi justice. I'm sure it will be worth the wait!

Hotel Talisi Grand Re-Opening!!
By TigerMom14, 9/23/09
After about a 6 month closure and many sad people, fearing the charm of the hotel and fabulous Southern buffet would be lost forever, new owners have been working feverishly to spruce up rooms, lobby and dining areas, and word is, Hotel Talisi is set to reopen the first week of October. Hurrah! I'm marking my next visit to Hotel Talisi, which, i hope is the week they open, and most definitely, the first night of the return of the catfish on that amazing buffet. Yum! That will be the moment of truth, is if they brought back original kitchen staff and recipes. It was perfection.

Girls Night Out
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 3/18/08
When we 6-10 "girls" 60+ years want to get togrther for some quiet time, we love to go to the ole Talisi Inn. The historic information and antique lobies are just perfect for our late night magazine reading. The daily lunch & dinner is so great. on Sunday be sure to try the turnip green soufle'. No breakfast is available at the hotel.

Excellant Getaway! Will Go Back
By Jill, 2/11/08
WE LOVED THE HOTEL!!! If you just want to get away and relax then the HOTEL TALISI is the place too go. What a wonderful experience. The sevice, food, and hospitality of the employee's cannot be beat. Tim & Pam the owners are also wonderful. The hotel decor is to die for. Antique's everywhere. If the room is unoccupied they will leave the door open just so you can take a look at all the wonderful items in the different rooms. The local history is also interesting. If you ask Pam she will be more than glad to tell you about the history of the hotel and the ghosts that live their as well. Would highly recommend staying at the HOTEL TALISI to anyone.

Great place
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 10/2/07
I have read the other reviews for Hotel Talisi and I agree with them. This hotel is a gem and I'm glad I got to stay there. I felt like I got a great deal on the price and it was comfortable. I wish the restaurant was open a little later because I didn't get to try the food. I had to eat at other, nearby restaurants. I have to go back to Tallassee soon and I'm sorry to learn that the hotel is booked.

A real gem
By Jeanean, 2/23/07
Initially, we stayed at the Hotel Talisi because of the location while attending a funeral. However, the hotel became a destination in itself. It is a step back in time, beautifully decorated with an aire of elegance. This is our kind of accommodation...and the price is so reasonable. Not much to do in the town but we didn't care!

Country Lodge Feeling
By Bob and Karen, 12/13/06
Hotel Talisi has the charm of an old time country lodge. Just outside of the rooms are sitting areas in the hallway. It is like leaving your bedroom to your very own parlor with charming antique furniture and confortable settings. Each room comes with very clean bathrooms and lovely furnishings. The location is one block off the busy downtown street with interesting shops just steps away. Dinner is served in the dining room each evening with many choices and the coffee pot is always on in the morning for your pleasure. I highly recommend that you step back in time and take a visit.

Southern Hospitality, Old World Charm
By James Meeks Sr., 12/10/06
The Old World Charm of Hotel Talisi, puts you in the mood of staying in a small European Village Inn, but with a private bath, and personal control of the heat and air conditioning. Those assets, being what most travelers and vacationers of the European continent, know is not consistently available there. Most Hotel Talisi rooms have many antiques, as well as personal pieces of China, Crystal and Statuary. There are also antique appearing Persian and Oriental style carpets throughout the Hotel. All this seems to add to a pleasantness and comfort not found in most franchise hotel/motels across the country. I can honestly say I thoroughly enjoyed my short stay in this, off the beaten path, Southern Treasure. The Restaurant put me in the mind of my late Grandmother's southern, country fare, with a homemade chocolate meringue pie desert, second to none! I would willingly pay a premium to have this superb piece of Southern Americana Hospitality detach itself from Tallassee, Alabama, and precede me to any future destination, just to be awaiting my arrival there. Thank you Mr.Tim Gates and Mrs. Pam Gates for keeping this wonderful place alive. It is well worth a detour, and I will be back.
