Great then turned BAD
By South Dakota, 5/27/12
We arrived and it appeared there was new management. They were so nice and showed appreciation of us being there. The park looked better than the last 3 years we spent at El Governor. The new managers never stopped working. They were cleaning bathrooms early in the day and clearing brush after that In the evening they came around and talked with everybody and making sure everything was ok. After 1 week we became aware that the previous managers had returned. We asked and were told they had been on vacation. Well it all started over with dirty bathrooms and just a feeling we were a bother. Comments about kids coming soon and what messes they make. We sure wish the new managers (Penny and Don) were in charge.

Awesome Location
By dointhedeed, 5/27/12
My wife and I stopped in to see if there was any availabilty for 2 nights and ended up staying 5. Penny the lady running the office was so friendly and helpful, and made us feel like we had been there every year. I put the park on the top of my list for places to stay. We stayed at El Governor RV park last year, but it was so much friendlier this time. We will make reservations for a longer stay in the near future.

Great but dirty
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 11/22/11
Love the location and the management are really friendly and helpful. El Governor motel and RV Park basically have a monopoly going on and therefore do not really care how they treat their guests. We have stayed in the motel and the RV Park. Both are really in disrepair. The park baths are rarely cleaned and have a note which threatens to close the restrooms because someone dirtied them. That sign was there last year as well and states please treat the facility as if it were in your own home. That is great but they do not treat the facility with the same respect. They never cleaned the bathroom the entire three weeks we were there. They also crowd everyone around the bathrooms and do not leave walking paths to and from the faciility. One has to walk through tenants sitting areas and some tenents try to block the traffic by placing vehicles, motorcycles or awnings in the path. The El governor needs some competition to make them address these issues. It will be nice if maybe the current owners will retire and some more responsible people take over management.

Wonderful Beach - Musty Smell in Room
By Suz, 7/10/09
The beach, pool and grounds were well kept. However, our room #409 had a bad musty/wet smell. I'd go again, but not that particular room.

Mx Bch looks like a postcard!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 8/31/07
My Husband and I went to Mx Beach for our 1 year anniversary (Feb. 2006). We had never been there, but were told about it. Driving in, right by the ocean it seemed, was like looking at a postcard! We loved it immediately! It was a great vacation/anniversary choice. Not busy like places like Panama City Beach and not full of bumper to bumper cars. Everyone at the hotel and the nearby stores were very friendly. It was great to get up early and grab a bucket and collect beautiful sea shells, which we have in our home right now. The rooms are older but CLEAN! The nearby restaurants were great! Most locally owned so they were even better. It was a relaxing and fun place and we will be going back. I only hope it doesn't become like so many other beach areas, congested, full of condos etc... It's perfect right now. The heated pool was great too! Loved Mexico Beach!El Governor was a great place to stay, beautiful views!

NOT FOR HANDICAPPED PEOPLE
By Midnitrondavu, 6/13/07
If you have any kind of disability, don't stay here! There is only 1 elevator and it may work or it may not work. If you happen to catch it in service, you might as well pack a lunch because it will take well over 9, YES NINE, minutes for the elevator to reach you from the time you press the call button. By the time I made it to my room up 4 flights of stairs, I was exhausted. I was in extreme pain for 3 days after hiking up all those stairs on an already injured knee. None of the staff offered any help and after repeated calls requesting help I gave up. I made it to my room and went to bed and I will never stay there again!

Awesome Stay
By Tia, 6/2/07
I took my 2 Kids to the El Governor Motel and stayed for 4 days. The staff was the kindess and most helpful staff I've ever seen at any motel. My Kids had a great time and so did I. I recommend this motel to anyone with kids, who want to stay at a nice quiet family oriented place. This place is perfect.
