By A Yahoo! Contributor, 09/16/09
The only thing i dislike about this lodge is that it is hard to get a room. Guess that says something and i should love that too! I have stayed there several times and i thoroughly enjoy it. I am staying there in a couple of weekends and i am so ready. I can't hardly wait!!! { SO EXICITED } !!!!

Warm & friendly people

My room was well-equipped, clean and comfortable. The view was great! The peacocks, rooster, squirrels and wild turkey were fun to watch from my room. Met some very nice guests. The proprietors were very warm and friendly. Will definitely go again!

Great place to go for a nature break!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 07/29/08
We have been staying there for 25 years. It is always great to get back. It's on the water in the bay, peacocks everywhere, alligators in the lagoon, great flowers, strange birds everywhere, and “stuff”. I looked forward every afternoon to our exploration walk checking out the place. Take some popcorn for all the animals! We never allowed enough time to explore everything on the grounds. It is a fishing camp type of place that has been there for years so there are some older rooms or cabins and some new. Tell them what you want. I wish they had a web-cam on the internet so I could see it every once in a while.

It ain't the Ritz...
By michael, 03/23/08
...but what do you expect in the Redneck Riviera? Definitely a strange place, but not bad. Our room was old, with wood panelling and plenty of striped wallpaper, but clean--although smoking was allowed in there, and you could smell it. Our dog was allowed, and the eccentric but nice lady at the desk let us know when we called that he couldn't be left alone; presumably so that they can clean the room without running into a potentially unfriendly animal. But at least they let him in without a problem. The grounds were...unusual, but nice, on the water. The peacocks were, again, unusual, but didn't bother us. They amused the dog. The restaurant on premises was surprisingly good (large portions, $5 pitchers of beer). We were prepared for the worst, but for $52/night, this really wasn't bad. I/my fiance didn't find this place scary or intimidating at all. Oh, there was wireless available--seemed to be only around the office are. It didn't pick up in the room; the restaurant also has a computer available for use.

What a retreat!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 05/22/07
On a last minute trip to East Point, we stayed at a Sportsman Lodge cabin. It's in the heart of nature; you can walk around, enjoy beautiful Florida flowers and trees, there were birds and peacocks...it was so peaceful and serene. And it's located right on the water. We look forward to going back.

Travelers beware! Esp. women.
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 05/01/07
Without a doubt, this was the absolute worst motel experience I have ever had. Very, very strange and creepy place. The room was horribly dirty and smelly, *the window had no lock on it*, and the bathroom was so small that I could barely turn around in it. And despite the claim that this was a 'pets allowed' (for a small fee) establishment, the proprietor informed me after I came back from dinner that I could *not* leave my pets alone in the room while I was gone. Hmmm...so the animals are supposed to sit in the 120-degree car while I attend an event on St. George Island the next day? Needless to say, I left after the first night--much to my inconvenience. I did not feel safe or welcome there at all. Or even clean, for that matter. The motel grounds, incidentally, look like an amusement park that went out of business 20 years ago. Oh, and how could I forget? If you're planning to stay here, make sure you're not allergic to peacocks, because there are many of them just wandering around screaming on the premises. If there was an option to give this a rating of "0" stars instead of 1 in each category, I would have.
