Me, and some friends of mine stayed at this motel on August 13-14 2010. I would not recommend it. After returning home this past Sunday I developed what I thought was a heat rash. It progressively got worse, and started itching like crazy. After doing some internet research, I am convinced that these were bed bug bites. I read another review where someone else had this problem after staying at this place. We also paid $150.00/night and the rooms were horrible. The a/c never got the room down to below 75 degrees and was hotter than that during the day. They did not come in and take the garbage out/make beds/clean anything while we were there. Also, the garbage from the rooms is stored by the stairwells and smelled like it had not been emptied for a long time. I would seriously reconsider if you are planning on staying at this place.
What I liked....there is a pool and it is right across the street from the beach access. The use of the boil and fry house is also nice.
What I didn't like ...the price for the accommodations or lack there of!
For the price of 175$ a night this is a direct quote, "To keep the prices down, all we ask is that you wash all of your dishes, strip the beds and bring all the towels and bedding down to the office, and take the garbage out to the dumpster." We had to ask for top sheets and make our own beds, some of the pillows are stained and filthy and the bathroom is tiny and gross (but the shower water pressure and temp was great!) There is only a table bolted to the wall and 6 straight back chairs for you to sit in as you watch the small tv above the refrigerator (bring some beach chairs up if you want any sort of comfort). But this is Grand Isle and if you are just there to fish and eat then this would do (sleeps 8 in 2 doubles and 2 sets of bunk beds) and if you don't mind the price. But at this price you could almost rent a whole nice camp so....the people are nice but the place is shoddy and overpriced!
