Jasmin Motel, Daytona Beach Shores

This motel was more than likely built in the early 1960's. The lighting and fixtures would support the theory. It has seen a few spackle repairs and paint jobs through the years. It has seen better days, but so have most of us (think about it). Negatives: It is an older motel that shows some wear Positives: *BEACH FRONT- No more than 50 yards to the sand. Gorgeous view. *The rooms are clean. No sand or insects. *Air conditioning is potent. Kept my room at around 60 degrees Fahrenheit. *Economical- priced competetively with nearby alternatives. *QUIET- I heard nothing from 2 neighbors in adjacent rooms. Slept like a baby (sober). *Management- Owner Julien is a gentleman. Lives onsight. He is very friendly and approachable with any question or issue. -If you are used to 4 star establishments at $150-$200 a night, you may look elsewhere. -If you are on more of a budget, and plan to spend most of your time enjoying the beautiful beach that is seconds from your front door, or out visiting attractions, then I highly recommend it. It will remind you of an ocean/lakefront cottage you visted in your youth, and still remember fondly.

This place is not the best looking place. But you could overlook that if it was quiet. It's been there for a very long time. Prime piece of real estate, right on the beach. But it's run more like a commune. Very loud and scarey at night. Not at all safe. Just a flimsy little door knob type lock. If you're a surfer or biker and want to party it's great. But for regular folks, with children, stay away. The manager won't do anything about the nighttime partys. I think he's just glad, lucky really, to have any guests staying there. It was really really bad. I paid for 4 nights but only stayed 2. I litereally packed up and got out in like 5 minutes.

I stayed at the Jasmine in 1999 and it was old and crumby but owner was nice,other guests were quiet, I had to stay again this week, it was awful. Only 2 other units were rented and those people were party time all night. Manager did nothing. I paid for 4 nights and stayed only 2.Really bad place. Don't go there.

If you are looking for a luxury resort vacation, this is not the place for you. However, if you want inexpensive (for the area), friendly accommodations with the basic amenities you expect from any motel plus the charm of lovely staff and management, you should definitely check it out. The building is older than most of the hotels down the beach but for the price and the quiet charm of being further away from the hustle and bustle of downtown Daytona, it is quite worth it for me. It's tucked in a little further than the other motels which makes it a little more cozy and relaxing, in my opinion, and is just a short walk from the pier. The parking is a bit rough but there is a free beach parking lot right next door, which is where I parked during the day so I could easily get my car in and out. Overall, I enjoyed my stay and will definitely return!

This place is right up there with roach motel-we found the roaches in the room daily. We had 2 rooms, and the bathroom floors and showers had mold on them not to mention the carpet made your feet black. The kitchenette was filthy with food caked in the microwave. The refridgerator hardley worked and the beds were not even completely made with the boxsprings not even covered. What a dive. The price was cheap by Daytona standards, but it was still way too much.
