Everglades Motel, Homestead

Best thing about this swampy dump is location as I can't say anything good about it...other than, thank God I'm out of there! The gal at the front desk was less than happy to be there (I can understand why); the place STINKS!! The stinch is of mold, sour butts and built-up filth, and the carpet is living proof of that...and, I do mean living! The bacteria & mold is alive in that joint! The flimsy, uncomfortable bed sat sloped in the frame, and when we investigated the issue, there were chips & other food garbage under the mattress--at the head of the bed...not sure how they missed that while supposedly cleaning. The door closed with a loose clutch and didn't lock so we piled stuff in front of it so we could hear if someone were to come in and good thing we did! In the morning, a man claiming to be from the motel started to walk right in! He claimed to Need to know when we were checking-out but, it wasn't even near check-out time so IF he worked there, he shouldn't have just invited himself in! The evening before, we went to the desk to ask for a different room since the door didn't lock but they were closed. The shady people walking around the parking area made me feel insecure with leaving my car unattended but this was the only (what seemed to be) reasonably priced room...no wonder it was available, nobody else wanted to stay there. No value in this motel! The dust build-up around the hard to reach (with a vacuum) areas of the room was nasty. The mildew in the bath was really creepy and so were the 'characters' running around outside. We should've keep driving when we saw those characters before we checked-in. I highly recommend staying away from this place, unless you you're a risk-taker and don't value yourself.

Dirty, grungy, gross. Stay away. Don't try to save money by staying here. You will lose money in the long run when all your belongings are tarnished or stolen.

My friend and I “stayed” here after driving back from Key West. We really aren’t picky about appearances as long as it’s comfortable and safe; those are two things we look for in a hotel (motel) especially being so far from home. We got a room here and it was dirty, the carpets were sticky, the room smelled of mildew, and the bed linens were old and stained.. There wasn’t any hot water, and the shower door wouldn’t close. Water was obviously splashing out since the door wouldn’t catch and I noticed an inlet with wires exposed right in front of the door! I got out immediately and I heard my friend screaming. She plugged in the television and it sparked, singing her fingers. Not to mention, the TV was on a small weak stand that caused it to lean as if it could fall over any second. While we were changing (or about to), we saw that one of the windows was open and it wouldn’t close. We saw a man walked by and was trying to look in. We decided to leave immediately and while she loaded our luggage I returned the key. It was 7:00p.m on a weekend and the front desk was already closed. My friend had to call them from the car while I kept ringing the doorbell and was trying to ignore two very scary looking men trying to take our key because they didn’t want to pay for a room. When the rude attendant finally removed the cardboard from the window, I gave her the key and jumped in the car while it was moving… no kidding. We were there about a half hour before shooting out of there. If you are traveling, there are more decent looking places you can stay in for a few dollars more, seriously. Oh and the Laundromat is just a washer and dryer under a porch. We paid a little more than what we paid here for a beachfront hotel with valet parking in Miami Beach, and they had continental breakfast. Even in Homestead, there are nicer looking hotels for less $$$ unless you want to pay for the creepiness factor, then you’re getting your money’s worth. If you want hygiene and peace of mind then please stay as far away from here as possible. We travel a lot, and this motel has become one the most commonly told of our "horror stories."

It was the worst place I've ever stayed in. It was dirty, dangerous, the window didn't lock and people were walking around right outside the window. There was an exposed electrical outlet IN the shower. The carpet was disgusting and sticky with white spots. The TV sparked when I turned it on. The room smelled like mildew. In a horrible neighborhood. Even the one star rating is way more than it deserves. We stayed about 20 minutes then turned in the key. After that experience we drove to Miami and stayed in a hotel ON the beach. I don't know why any of the other people gave it a good rating. They must be used to staying in pay by the hour looking hotels.

Everything has been perfect for the last 2 stays at the everglades motel. Staff and rooms are amazing. Can't wait to stop by again before going to key west! keep up the great work EVERGLADES MOTEL!!

This is the third time our family has stayed at the everglades motel. We usually spend the night at Everglades motel before going to the key west. The young lady who works there is the nicest person I have ever dealt with in the lodging industry. She opened the pool for my kids early in the morning, way before opening hours. They really went out of their way to make our trip relaxing, every time. we highly recommend staying at the everglades.
