Truly the best!
By Papi, 01/06/10
Perfect. The only word to describe the hotel. I read a comment below that says you have to pay a lot for internet. Not true all wi-fi is free. Read the comments below. This place is AWESOME!!!

Best hotel in the downtown area!
By Rachel, 08/19/09
I loved everything about this hotel. Friendly staff, great service, hip place! All the products were replenished every day, all staff was extremely helpful, and they truly do offer a Whatever/Whenever service! I will be booking with W hotels wherever I travel :) I recomend this hotel for the younger crowds and not for the folks who like peace and quiet! Best experience with a hotel ever. Very unique and unlike any stay you will ever have again! Vallet service is well worth the price- downtown has no parking anyways! A+++ all the way.

Awesome place!
By Big Mike, 08/17/09
This place was great! The hotel itself is very trendy. The rooms are really neat lookin. Hotel staff was on the spot with accomodations. Only real gripe is if you want to use the internet you would have to pay alot. There was also 32 dollar per day valet parking costs, which we knew ahead of time but was convenient. Go to the starbucks two blocks down and use their free wi-fi for internet if your computer has it. It is a bit off of major places to see but its all within walking distance like the horton plaza mall, gaslamp quarter, and the harbor. There are a bunch of restaurants in the surrounding area. Access to I-5 is really quick to get to seaworld and coronado island. Overall A-

Angry "Guest"
By Joy, 08/03/09
I can't believe they checked me out before check out time! I left early morning to drop off my boyfriend for deployment. We took almost all our things but I had intentions to check-out after dropping him off because we were in a hurry to get on base. I realized I had left a few items behind so on my way back to the hotel I decided to stay in the room until check-out at noon. I get to my front door and I can't open it anymore and I I hear people in my room already. I rushed to the front desk very upset and I was told that because there was no luggage (although I still had personal belongings including JEWELRY) they checked me out even though check out time was at noon. They said that 90% of their guests leave without checking out. This is a bad look on them especially when they lose items. To make matters worse, the items they recovered DID NOT include my earrings that were really expensive. I knew for a fact I left them behind and they insisted I look through all my belongings. All they did for me was put me in a room for the remaining of my check in which was ONE HOUR (I booked a suite and they put me in a STANDARD ROOM) and file a loss claim. This incident changed my views on this hotel. 1. They checked me out before check-out time 2. They lost my earrings 3. They were not helpful

W San Diego - Meh
By Mike Tadlock, 12/13/08
See the updates disclosure over there on the right? I wonder how many folks are going to see it. I wonder if it should have been right above the submit button. Updates in this context will hopefully be fairly innocuous. If one is writing a review, one usually expects it to be seen by the public. So says our research efforts anyway.

w - sucked
By Vanessa, 08/25/08
We arrived at the hotel at 6pm (checkin at 3pm) and the room wasn't ready for an additional 4 hours so we sat in our wet (from the ocean) bathing suits for hours when we were told it could take 15 minutes. Because of this, we weren't able to have dinner--as planned. Not to mention, there were many other couples who were experiencing the same service. When we finally got into our room, there were pubes in the shower. The hotel is conveniently located next to NOTHING. No restaurants or nightlife within walking distance. I recommend steering clear of this place and going to Hard Rock in Gaslamp instead.

Well, it was clean
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 08/07/08
I stayed at the W for a conference. The location was good. For the price, though, Internet should be free, not at a daily price. Bottled water for $9 - I went to 7/11. The room was clean, though it looked like a college dorm room. The staff was helpful with directions and local information. To me, not worth the money.

Chic, Hip, Classy but Functional???
By Raj415S, 06/16/08
My wife and I left for a weekend get away. The front desk staff was able to check us into our room 3 hours early with a smile and no hesitation at all. The check in clerk was very quick to reccomend less-costly options for parking in the area than the $28 parking (Valet-Only). Our room was perfect in presentation and clean. A/C worked well, but was a little loud for our liking. At one point into our stay I asked myself if the W, San Diego were too hip and chic at the cost of functionality. Problem #1: The Tavoli/iPod radio did not work (was promised a replacement, but did not arrive), Problem #2: Shower water temp was horrible, either too cold or lake-of-fire hot! (reported to be a building wide issue), #3. Wireless phone in the room did not work. Strong Positives: Excellent service and shuttle service. Check out Beach on the 2nd floor, great bartenders and great vibes. Linens are great and wife-approved! I will be there again. Just get the shower & radio clock to work next time.

Completely under whelmed!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 04/28/08
Was not told that the lobby was under "Refreshing", which meant there was not lobby. Valet parking was $28.00 per day in an outside lot I could have parked in for half the price. I had to call to get the room made up at 4pm. Not worth the money!

Great Stay in San Diego
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 12/20/07
My husband planned a getaway for the 2 of us. We stayed at the W and were wowed by our experience there. The decor was very chic. The rooms were beautiful and provided great comfort. The spa was outstanding. We had a great time on Friday and Saturday nights when the DJ was there and provided us with great music to dance to. Depending on what time we entered the elevator, there was a welcome mat with Good Morning, Good Afternoon, and Good Evening. We enjoyed our meals at Rice. The concierge and everyone at the entrance was excellent. We were provided with W bottled waters when we went out for our walks-nice touch. The W will be our choice for future San Diego stays. Kudos.
