Fabulous-my Favorite!!!
By ,
This will be my 3rd trip in as many years here! Friends will have 3 trips to this resort this year. People who are complaining are looking to complain-you get what you pay for! If you want a upscale resort this is not it-this is a fun, let loose resort!

The horrible vacation in mexico
By ,
I stayed in Riu Jalisco @ weeks(from 19.07 to 2.08)It was my first horrible vacation in Mexeco. The food was the same each days and not tasty in all restaurantsVery often plates, cups, folks were very dirty(with food on them)Hotel was overcrouded.A lot drunks locals were in pool bar and they all days sang song.Kids run everywhere without any control from pareints. It's not good place if you would like have relax.Very very nousy hotel. Hotel staff can't give properlyservice becausa lot people are in hotel(90% mexicans with big famalies)Every days one-two toylets outside don't work or very dirty. One day they cleaned canalization andpoured off water outside between balconies.Smell was horrible.I will never recomend this resort anyone and will never return there again.

Noisy, Dirty, Overbooked
By ,
Good thing--it's on the beach! Not so good... --rooms are musty, can be cleaner --too many guests for so little staff, service lacks --Loud, noisy every evening; young children playing and yelling after 1 am in the hallways. Drunkards roam hallways loudly at 3 and 4 am. --Hotel walls and floors constructed of non-absorbent materials and ALL noise echoes and bounces around from far distances. --cell phone stolen from inside my suitcase; staff responded slowly to report it and have avoided my follow up calls since this time. I met another guest whose property was stolen too --stolen items is less likely, but this trip was more stressful than relaxing because it's simply too noisy to sleep. And the food didn't compensate for that either.

awesome trip!!!!
By ,
Went here with a large group in April 2008... we had kids, people in their 20's, people in their 40's, people in their 60's, and elderly in wheelchairs and everyone had a great time. there were plenty of activities for the kids, and the man in the wheelchair was able to get around. though, the grounds are big so it was difficult at times for him to get around on his own. the food was good and buffets always stocked. the staff was excellent. a little far from downtown but easy access to it. can't wait to go back!! if you stayed there around the same time or since then and remember entertainment staff members named David (a.k.a. peewee), Caesar, or Christian... message me!!

what a waste of a vacation
By ,
first off if you think saving a few dollars to get a second rate resort then this is your place. i heard from their staff, the staff from the hotel they sent us too and the riu vallarta that jalisco overbooks by 40 rooms a day and these unfortunate guests are sent to an even worse hotel. their clerk said the one got sent to must be okay because they get fewer complaints then the others. how nice? as for our stay of one night. well we book for four and got beds for three. the beds were box springs with pillows wrapped in plastic. the room reeked of mildew. you could hear the glasses clinking on the maid cart almost 100 yards away. there was not water or hotel service to bring water of a rollaway. the lobby was chaos, hot and long waits. the bartenders were lousy and it took three requests to get one daquiri that was horrible and our friends drinks were no better. if you're not in line at 8am for an hour to get a dinner resveration you're doomed to the worst buffet i'v been to. just breakfast my omelet was tasteless and runny, pankcakes were soggy, orange juice was watery and the tomatoe juice looked like pink lemonade. oveall all the food on every meal was crap and seeing so many flies around i guess at least it was popular with them. the childs pool was filthy and packed. the adult pool was almost the same. the pool change room was filthy and packed with non guests. the grounds while clean were not 5 star clean. so here's the deal what they don't tell you is that this resort is popular with mexicans that are not near upper class and is crowded. they over pack their rooms. the hotel admits it. they will offer to send you to a worse place and give you some free nights on a return trip. but after spending several thousand for airfare and then several more thousand for this resort plus wasting a vacation who'd in there right mind trust these double talkers?

It is what it is...
By ,
I was a little hesitant after booking this hotel once I saw all of the mixed reviews, but I went ahead and kept the reservations. I am glad I did because I had a complete blast. Cons: Bed is rock hard. No waiter/waitress on the beach. Expensive cab ride to downtown ($20 one way). Pros: We got there about 2 hours before check-in, but they got us in after only 45 minutes of waiting. Room cleaned everyday. When you check-in the safety deposit key AND lock are together. If you stay near the pool bar on the beach there is a waitress that will bring drinks if you ask (don't forget to tip). Performance every night. The club is a little small, but still lots of fun to go dance in. Activities by the pool everyday. The food does get a little old (and I was only there for 4 days). Everything is buffet style. We had to make reservations for the asian restaurant thinking we were going to be served, but that's not the case. It's just another buffet. BUT it is still very good food. We loved eating breakfast at the International Buffet (can't remember the name). Make sure you try it! My conclusion on the whole trip is, I would not go back to Puerto/Nuevo Vallarta. Although the hotel was fabulous and I had no problems, the ocean is not as pretty and if you aren't at a hotel the beach is rocky.

Good place, good for families.
By ,
The check in took about an hour and we ran passed the timeshare suites. There is only one place where there are elevators which is right in the middle lobby area, so if you are on the far left or right wing, you will be taking stairs which wasn't very pleasant on a day that the floors were scorching hot. The buffet restaurant on the beach was great for lunch/dinner and so was the breakfast buffet. The actual restaurant itself was terrible, not worth the hassle. The kids pool is great, it has slides for the kids and even my teenager loved it. However, the adult pool looks a lot better and bigger in pictures. The swim up bar looked dirty and the on the 2nd day, two people threw up in the pool and I never returned to it. The beach was big, lots of beach recliners and umbrellas, as well as palm trees. However, there were pebble rocks right when you got into the water which hurt a little AND there were about 5 sea snakes that were constantly in them. The water was a bit dirty, but I think that is because the week before they had some storms. I loved the beach venders, (i.e, hair braiders, henna tattoo's, jewlery, sunglasses). The rooms were a bit small but comfortable with good air conditioning. Good minibar too. Bring hair conditioner because they only supply shampoo.

Hide Your Cash
By ,
Arrived the evening of the 6th of Jan 2008, when we checked in we were told there were no keys available for the room safes until the following morning, went to our rooms there were 3 couples, left our luggage and went to the beach as we returned from the beach a resort security man followed us to our rooms we changed then left our rooms again followed to their sports bar by the same security man, after a couple of drinks we all returned to our rooms to find all the cash in the three rooms had been stolen, we confronted the assistant manager Stephanie Weffer and identified the security man but nothing has been done to this point. One last thing , that same security man was working the lobby the day we departed, We truly believe that Management is aware of and possible involved with this man

We Won't Be Back
By ,
Just got back from the Jalisco 3 nights ago. At first glance, the hotel seems very nice, but look closely, and you may change your mind. Since it's all-inclusive, don't be surprised to see a lot of roaming drunks on the grounds. However, if this is your thing, you should feel right at home! The hotel is U-shaped, and there is a giant stage at the open end of the "U", so when their too-loud tacky shows start up around 9:30 every night of the week, they will keep everyone awake, including the kids, until midnightish (we found it a nightmare). One thing different here than any hotel we've ever been to anywhere in Mexico: They won't bring you drinks by the pool or beach. Since it's all-inclusive, we figured it was their way of slowing down the alcohol-intake by the guests (it wasn't working, btw). Be aware: this place is FAR from town - it cost us $18 US dollars by taxi, one-way, to get to the Mercado (city center) where everything is. There is absolutely nothing nearby the resort. Babysitting services were obnoxious: $15 for the first hour (for 1 kid), & $10 every hour after. The best hotel in all of Acapulco, for comparison, only charged $5 an hour for babysitting. You can tell where they cut corners here to save costs: there's only 1 bank of elevators in the center of the "U" (everyone else has to walk a mile to get to them); it's cold & clammy in the rooms because they didn't want to pay for a dehumidifying system with the A/C; the same food is on the buffets every night; and oh yes, they don't turn the A/C on in their reservation-only restaurants until they open the doors, so be prepared to sweat right through your nice dinner clothes. Bottom Line: there are so many really EXCELLENT places to stay in Mexico, for similar costs... Take your money elsewhere and spend it there instead.
