We Won't Be Back

Just got back from the Jalisco 3 nights ago. At first glance, the hotel seems very nice, but look closely, and you may change your mind. Since it's all-inclusive, don't be surprised to see a lot of roaming drunks on the grounds. However, if this is your thing, you should feel right at home! The hotel is U-shaped, and there is a giant stage at the open end of the "U", so when their too-loud tacky shows start up around 9:30 every night of the week, they will keep everyone awake, including the kids, until midnightish (we found it a nightmare). One thing different here than any hotel we've ever been to anywhere in Mexico: They won't bring you drinks by the pool or beach. Since it's all-inclusive, we figured it was their way of slowing down the alcohol-intake by the guests (it wasn't working, btw). Be aware: this place is FAR from town - it cost us $18 US dollars by taxi, one-way, to get to the Mercado (city center) where everything is. There is absolutely nothing nearby the resort. Babysitting services were obnoxious: $15 for the first hour (for 1 kid), & $10 every hour after. The best hotel in all of Acapulco, for comparison, only charged $5 an hour for babysitting. You can tell where they cut corners here to save costs: there's only 1 bank of elevators in the center of the "U" (everyone else has to walk a mile to get to them); it's cold & clammy in the rooms because they didn't want to pay for a dehumidifying system with the A/C; the same food is on the buffets every night; and oh yes, they don't turn the A/C on in their reservation-only restaurants until they open the doors, so be prepared to sweat right through your nice dinner clothes. Bottom Line: there are so many really EXCELLENT places to stay in Mexico, for similar costs... Take your money elsewhere and spend it there instead.
