Cotton Exchange Hotel, New Orleans

The location was in walking distance to Bourbon St. So that was perfect for when we had planned. It was next door to the Hilton Garden Suits or Inn. They have nice breakfast buffet that was excellent with great service. There was only one elevator in the hotel however that wasn't a problem. The price was right 80 dollars a night wasnt bad. My room was cleaned every day...When you go to New Orleans plan to bring comfortable walking shoes, you will be doing a lot of walking!!!

Room was clean enough (though, don't expect a nice view), free breakfast was convenient, kitchen staff was very nice, other hotel staff was nice and knowledgeable. Overall, a good value for the money. Hated that the workout room was not ready yet, but was scheduled to be opened. Location is great and close to the action. A lot of construction was happening in the area at the time which made the area aesthetically unpleasing.

We recently stayed at this hotel along with another couple. Two couples, two rooms. Both of us never recieved adequate towels each day. Even after leaving notes to the housekeeping staff for two face towels, we either had one or none. The rooms were small, TVs outdated, bathrooms very small, and in the four days we stayed there, our bed linen was never changed. On the positive side, the location was good and the kitchen staff and bellmen were great. Unfortunately the bad out-weighed the good, I wouldn't recomend this hotel.

I stayed here from March 5th to March 8, 2010. When I arrived, I was greeted by three courteous employees. I loved the fact that it was only a two to three minute walk to Canal, Bourbon and Poydras. The staff made sure breakfast items were available, the room was clean and directions to attractions.

So, after we checked in, we went to park on the 6th floor. The garage is TERRIBLE; I could hear every piece of metal under my car scraping every level down. The ramps are steep like rollercoasters. Second, we used our priority points to pay for the hotel. They charged my card anyways!!! So when I got to Bourbon & went to buy an $8 drink...my card was declined. So I spent 1 1/2 hr on a side street hashing it out w/the hotel. Eventually I got on the phone w/a mgr & anytime Derek (the mgr) had to call me back, he'd say, "Let me hit you back". How professional is this?! Luckily, I had a LITTLE bit of cash & some good friends to help me out to have a good time. B/c of the clerks mistake I had to pay & they were not concerned at all. This was very embarrassing...as one review above me said....DO NOT give them your card # until you check in! When we finally got to the room, it was EXTREMELY small. It had 2 small corner windows; it was like a dungeon! We asked to be moved. They moved us 2 rms down & it was the same size! We figured "what the heck...we won't care where we're sleeping by the end of the night." Then my hubby's a platinum member....this was crazy!! The least I can say is the bfast was nice & it is very close to Bourbon.

We recently spent 3 nights at theis hotel and everything was great. Check in was easy and everyone one was very efficient and polite. Our room was clean and spacious. The bathroom a bit small, probably wouldn't have been so bad if my husband wasn't always trying to be in there at the same time....Breakfast was a buffet served daily and they weren't in a hurry to close at the designated time if people were still coming in. Location was awesome. Our street was quiet but the hotel was just 2 blocks to Canal Street and the French Quarter. For the price this hotel was great, not the most fancy but definetely a great deal to get you into New Orleans!

My family and I stayed here one night and had a great stay. First of all the breakfast was great, the best I have had at any Holiday Inn. The valet parking was also super. It is very difficult to park a car in any of these car garages in New Orleans so it is worth the extra money to let them do it. Also our bellman was the best. He was extra helpful. Very personal. And I felt like he was concerned about our stay. The room was clean and like most other Holiday Inn rooms. I would recommend anyone staying here. We stayed in room 702 and it was very quiet. I read a review where they had an experience of it being noisy. I think it is where you stay.

I love this hotel. The service is great, from valet parking to free delicious breakfast in the morning. You will feel so welcome here. I have been coming to New Orleans since 2005 and I have always stayed at this hotel. The location is priceless, just 3 minutes from Canal Street. I know the staff by heart and I can honestly say I feel like family with them. Eric, Yolanda, Derrick, Natan, Carl, and Sammie are just a few of the wonderful workers at this fine hotel. The Holiday Inn Express is my home away from home. I was tentative after reading some less-than-favorable reviews; however, we found this hotel to be a fantastic location, a great deal, and the room was very large and comfortable. Paying over $20 a day for valet was a little steep and the only drawback. Breakfast was excellent and the service was friendly.

The only thing that can be said good about this Hotel is the service; other than that it was a nightmare! The rooms were noisy because there is a bar next door. The air conditioning would never get below 76 degrees and believe me if you are in the French Quarter where it's blazing hot, the last thing you want to do is come back to a hotel room that won't cool you off! The carpets in the room were all stained with whatever. And last but not least, there was a used, dirty, nasty bandaid in our bathroom that was left over from the whoever stayed in the room before us!!!! GROSS!!!! So, needless to say, that's the last time we will ever stay at this hotel!
