Lake Tahoe is Gorgeous but this Resort is Average
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 09/03/09
All in all, the Marriott Timber Lodge resort is at the bottom of my list of all Marriott resorts where I have stayed in Spain, Virginia, Florida, and South Carolina: the rooms are small and were only superficially clean (hadn't been dusted or vacuumed well, icebox wasn't clean), places where the woodwork and paint was damaged in the rooms and hallways, and the furnishings seemed old. Marriott upgraded all their bedding a couple of years ago and that was still the best part of the bedroom accomodations. 95% of the rooms don't have balconies and there's no place in the resort to eat outside, nor sit outside except in the noisy pool area The resort had only one on-site restaurant at the food was only fair, atmosphere more like a bar. The Valet staff were excellent but the concierge desk seemed ill-informed about routine information you come to expect in most hotels, such as location of nearby ATMs, list of restaurants, and expanded internet services. It would be nice if this information was pre-printed and available in the lobby or by request. I loved the Lake Tahoe area and was outdoors all day everyday and the weather was gorgeous so I loved my vacation. But staying at this resort was a mediocre experience.

We loved this resort!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 08/20/09
This was our first time here and we have decided it was one of our best vacations. We stayed in one of the studios. It was very clean and quiet. The staff was very courteous and friendly. The location was so convenient. We loved everything about this resort. A balcony would have been nice, but not necessary for us to have a perfect stay. Would highly recommend it and we will definitely be back again and again.

Great Hotel
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 10/23/08
This was a very nice place and close to everything. You have restaurants, shopping, the lake, skiing, & casinos. Great location and a clean place to stay. We enjoyed it very much!

Nice place, but the walls are THIN!!
By Been_thr_dne_that, 10/22/08
This is the second time I have been to this resort. I love the location and the hotel, for the most part, is clean. In my opinion, the location is perfect. It is very close to a grocery store, shops and casinos. The Heavenly Gondola is right on the grounds. I have only to dislikes: 1. The walls are so thin! Seriously, both times I have stayed here, I have been able to hear the room next door. The beds are so comfortable that it makes you want to sleep, but getting woken up by tv's, moans and groans are not my idea of rest. Take ear plugs! 2. Each time I have stayed here I booked a 3 room suite (2 bedrooms). I really love the space of this suite. You get a fireplace and full kitchen which is nice. However, there was mold on the shower curtain and around the bath tub. Additionally, you receive no lotion or conditioner, so bring your own toiletries. All in all, I felt the staff was very nice and helpful.

Wonderful Trip
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 10/06/08
October is down season as far as crowds go but a wonderful time of year in Tahoe. The Timber Lodge staff couldn't have been more courteous & helpful. Concierge desk is a wealth of information and convenience regarding things to do in the area. The rooms were immaculate and cozy, some with fireplaces. The Marriott beds are incredible at the end of a busy day. All you need is within walking distance(most right on the Marriott property) including shopping, restaurants and casinos. A car is not needed but I recommend one if you are into enjoying the beauty of the area on your own. A wonderful trip.

NIGHTMARE vacation
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 06/30/08
This was our third and worst trip the Timber Lodge. The second room we were put in had never been cleaned, and it was vile. The General Manager is a real jerk. Most the rooms don't have a balcony, and the windows only open 3 inches. Very claustrophobic. It has a nice shopping area, but you have to deal with the drunks from the casinos. They need more security. The one an only restaurant is $$$$ and always the same. We will not be back. Ever!

Excellent suite but slow staff
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 05/28/08
The suite was excellent and spacious. We loved it. Wonderful bed, whirlpool, double sinks, kitchen, dining area and washer and dryer. And the outside pools were great. I would rate 'excellent' if not the staff lowered the rating. It took us at least 20 minutes to check in and long line behind us. We waited for almost 2 HOURS for our luggages from the valet parking to our suite. We called the front desk and the staff said would reply us soon, but never got the call back. We still would go back again to enjoy the wonderful suite. Just don't expect any quality service from the staff than you will have a good stay.

bad memories
By John M, 02/26/08
We decided to splurge on a good location so we wouldn't have to drive anywhere during a ski weekend. This place is right next to the Gondola up to Heavenly ski resort. At arrival, we discovered that we were required to use (and pay for) the hotel valet service run by a different company, Mile High Valet Service (MHVS). When the valet service returned our vehicle the windshield was broken, displaying a radiating star of cracks, clearly from an impact. We reported it, had photos taken and were told the MHVS claims office would contact us immediately. They never did. When I finally got them on the phone, they explained that they had no responsibility because the break was the result of a stress fracture caused by "rock chip" in the window. Astounded, I asked if they ever saw a picture of the damage, and they admitted that they had not! I called the on-site MHVS manager to ask him to send the photo to the claims office. He replied that he couldn't do that, and then complained to me of the false claims they were getting. I guess that was an accusation! In short, the MHVS was negligent in the way they handled our vehicle, and were even more negligent (unethical) in the way they handled our grievance. I complained to the hotel, but they explained that MHVS was a separate company, and they couldn't do anything! BUT, they REQUIRE guests to use this service. The guy at Safelight Glass Company who fixed my window explained that it was broken by "something blunt, like a 2x4" and "definitely not a rock chip". Next time I'll stay in a place where the services just take your money, and don't damage your property and insult you in the process. The location isn't worth the aggravation.

Timeshare trip was a bust
By clnevarez, 02/08/08
This trip was a total waste of time. I feel my wife and I could have had more fun if we had just spent the money and stayed at a hotel. The customer service was atrocious when we arrived we were not allowed to check in right away and we were asked for our cell number, we came back and were sitting in the lobby and they gave a room away to three women who just arrived.
