Worst hotel experience of my life!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 1/26/12
The worst hotel experience of my life and it was the night of my wedding no less. Thank god we were here only one night and not for our entire honeymoon. Not only did they mess up our room that night, but the champagne, roses etc. that were delivered for our room wasn't in it! I hope the guests that got our room enjoyed it! No valet when we got there so I got to carry my luggage up in my wedding dress...Did I mention we got no apology or refund, credit or anything? All we got was a manager telling us that we checked in too late...the night of our wedding, when we told them we would be arriving around 10ish... This is not the first time the Portland Harbor hotel has had unprofessional customer service in my experience, this story is only half of what we dealt with here and I will never go anywhere near this place again. Neither will my family and friends. Who's business used to hold regular meetings here. This hotel should be no where near this price nor AAA rating. I don't expect special treatment when I go to hotels but when it's the night of my wedding and we get put in a normal room without what was delivered and are still expected to pay for the suite especially at this rate, you have got to be kidding me. The majority of my reviews on yelp are positive and this is the worst rating I have ever given...it was that bad.

torture!
By wyatt, 10/7/11
stay away! we've stayed in courtyard marriots that had more comfort and warmth, but for half the price. there's a super loud club right across the street blasting music 'till late at night. kind of like being stuck in a 90's frat party. fun? no. the room is furnished in a mix of various types of vinyl... an engineered wood floor, and wood-esque formica furniture. it's cold and uncomfortable. on one side of the king size bed there's a foot-pedal-operated floor lamp instead of a bed side table, so if there are two of you, one will have no place for book, drink, glasses, etc., and will need to jump out of bed to use the foot pedal to shut it's burning brightness down pre-sleep. how dumb. there's nothing "boutique" about this hotel. "boutique" hotels have been thought out, and are soothing to the soul, or at least interesting. this is neither. spare yourselves.

Nice Hotel, Questionable Staff
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 1/22/11
The PHH has a nice location and the actual hotel and restaurant are nice, however, the staff seemed unknowledgeable, uncaring and quite frankly questionable. I learned that the head maid is a felon charged with assault-- not someone i want having access to my room. The other staff I encountered just generally did not seem to have a clue. Nice hotel, just needs some new staff.

Won't recommend this hotel ever and I live here
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 2/20/10
Recommended it for a wedding and bride and groom were given the wrong room, treated badly, customer service was non existent. Other people staying there for the wedding were also not impressed with food or service.

Horrible Customer Service
By Arden, 7/22/09
For a wedding we had about 10 rooms booked for 2 or three nights each. Needless to say we spent a lot of money at this hotel and if we were treated this way after spending this much then I am sure it would be worse for a smaller group. On the wedding night all of our guests were locked out of their rooms because the key cards did not work. The staff blamed the guests for the key cards not working while the guests sat waiting late into the night. The hotel staff refused to bring champaign to the honeymoon suite causing the groom to go down and get it and making him get locked in the stairwell since his key card also didn't work. He ended up out on the street in his PJs because the only unlocked doors was a fire escape! Lastly the hotel misplaced our car when we went to leave in the morning causing us to walk around the garage looking for it. It was supposed to be valet parking. As we left, I asked the hotel to credit a fraction of our money back and they refused but told me someone would call me which they never did. I finally called and got someone on the phone a week later. The staffer told me it was my fault the key card didn't work and that my cell phone must have broken it. The problem was I didn't have a cell phone with me that day and the 10 other couples didn't all either. When a system fails almost hotel wide it is laughable to blame the guests. This staffer finally agreed to reimburse a few hundred which is pennies of what we spent there. I asked to be put through to his boss. It has been a week and I have not yet connected with his boss. I left her a message yesterday. I would not recommend this hotel. It is too expensive and they do not respect their customers.

Never Again
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 2/16/09
Stayed for one night as part of valentine package. The room is clean but not worth the price. Breakfast was included in the package. After waiting for 2 hours we did not get our food and we left. Would not go again for the price. Boston has more options. Do not expect much from maine hotels

Worked Great for Us
By Robert Boberg, 9/29/08
Room was clean, comfortable and quiet. Staff was friendly and helpful. Great location. Had to pay $15 a day for valet parking but it turned out to be worth it.

Don't even think of staying here
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 11/6/07
Nothing to like except location. Rude, inexperienced, unkempt staff with no social graces (greeted us with "so how are you guys?)" When not worst service imaginable, no service at all. No included breakfast. Uncomfortable beds. Mandatory valet fee with an attendant who could not drive stick shift. Stained, dirty furniture. "Jacuzzi" oversized bathtub for $100 extra. Clocks not set 2 days after EST time change, got wake-up 1 hour early at 4:45am.

Can't Wait for a refund!!!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 8/22/07
The building is in a great location and for the location the customer service is not worth the stay. Arrived in August, last room available, DO NOT TAKE IT! It will be a pizza slice shaped room wedged between the fitness center, the housekeeper's closet and the women's bathroom for the lobby. Upstairs above the room is romper room all night! They call it a "city veiw " room, WRONG, it overlooks the garden wedge corner and has a bush growing in front of the window so no one will know the room is occupied. After several calls to "customer relations" no one bothered to call back, no one bothered to inform the patrons that another room was available....at anytime. and when questioned, 10% was given which equaled - $28 off a $269 nightmare. Don't go and expect the best food either. One order of their beef tip sirloin with a little greens and 4 sprigs of asparagus with a dabble of cloeslaw, $82.00. Oh and they forget to inform you of the valet only parking will be charged to your room without notification....watch out for the small print! So if you have money to burn and waste go here otherwise RUN RUN RUN.
