Tropic Sun Towers, Ormond Beach

We stayed here, but it was actually in 2002. We booked a one bedroom. At the time of the booking, I told the representative it was for 2 adults and 3 kids. He said no problem, there would be plenty of room for all 5 of us. Well, I paid for the room (in full) and a few days later someone else called to confirm. When we went over the details, he said we could not have 5 people in a room (firecode/safety issues) and that he would be happy to give us a second room at a discounted price (was going to knock off $100 off the second room). Well, I said that's not what was agreed upon and we can't afford another room, even at the discounted price and that the misunderstanding was on their part, not ours, and we should not get the shaft because of it. He said he would give me a call back in the next few days and we could make an arrangement. That same day, the manager called back, apologized profusely, and gave us a second room AT NO CHARGE!!!! So, my husband and I got our own private suite, the kids got their own private suite, we loaded their fridge with munchies, let them have a blast (what teenagers would NOT want to to have a suite to themselves????) and it was a fantastic Christmas vacation. My husband and I had a great time, but because of the deal we got, we knew they were going to really push us extra hard to buy a time share and it was like a ticking bomb waiting. A couple days into our stay, the girl at the front desk told us the representative who does the time share tours was out sick so we didn't have to do a tour. She must have read the terror on my face because she immediately said.."don't worry, you don't have to pay any extra money because it's our fault, not yours. Enjoy your vacation." The room(s) were clean, the beach beautiful and well kept, no trash blowing around, everyone treated us great. I would defintely recommend staying here, in fact I looked it up because my husband and I are planning a trip to Daytona this spring and will probably stay here if the have an opening.

Clean but small. Great for families, but I don't recommend for couples. Could not get in the pool or hot tub because too many children. Elevators slow. Check in very slow and not friendly.

We loved our stay here. Great location, unit was clean, staff is extremely helpful and friendly. Very family oriented area. Plan to go back in the future!

This is a great place for a couple with kids. Our family has been vacationing at Tropic Sun Towers since 1991 when it was brand spanking new. It has everything for the family that wants to be in the middle of everything but not have the drunken-college-keg-party-thing going on. The only grip I have is that over the years the maid service has been diminished greatly and pretty much consists pre check-in and towel exchange. On the other hand I am the type that would prefer to not have people running in and out of my suite.

We first visited Tropic Sun towers when it use to be a resort of "International Recognition" according to RCI. Now it is a "Silver Crown" resort and the only reason it can not be considered for a "Gold Crown" is because it would have to house a restaurant on the premises. We purchased a time share there when it was just a resort of "International Recognition". We have four small children that love going here year after year. We have owned our unit for at least four years now and we still haven't considered going anywhere else. What is so great is we can walk to the beach and when we are done we can rinse off with the outside shower and then jump right into the cozy pool. My kids would spend all day in the pool if we would let them. They have outdoor barbeques you can use and outdoor tables to sit at while taking in the beautiful beach. As I am writing this I am getting excited about our next vacation there. I also love taking in the Nascar races while I am there. The resort is nice and small and if you stay the same week every year you will recognize everyone from last year. There are still original owners that have been staying there since the place opened. What else can I say? We love the place and look forward to building memories there with our kids. Unless you like those huge time share resorts where you never see the same people twice, I don't think you will ever be disappointed. Enjoy!!
