A classic Italian style meets modern sophistication at Borgata Hotel Casino and Spa in Atlantic City. It is the first new casino hotel in the east coast entertainment capital in more than 13 years. The 43-story tower stands as both the largest hotel and the tallest building in the entire state of New Jersey. Located at Renaissance Pointe overlooking the marina, the Borgata brings an all-encompassing Las Vegas style travel destination to Atlantic City. The 1.1 billion-seaside resorts, a joint venture of Boyd Gaming and MGM Mirage offers a broad range of activities, a brand of hospitality, and a level of service designed to please business and leisure travelers alike. Few hotels can rival the impressive scale and breadth of amenities. The 1,25,000-square-foot casino for instance holds 145 gaming tables and more than 3,600 slots. Headline acts from around the globe appear at the 1000-seat music box theater while the 2400-seat events center can stage anything from major events to top-flight meetings and conventions. Even the parking lot elicits awe with its space for up to 7,100 vehicles. All 2,002 guest rooms and suites offer Sealy beds, 300-thread-count custom Egyptian cotton linens, armoires with refrigerators, high-speed web access, and floor-to-ceiling windows with views of the city, marina, and Atlantic Ocean. Lavish bath rooms come with oversized glass, enclosed showers, marble walls and floors, granite countertops, Egyptian cotton bath sheets, and all-natural-essence-based grooming products by lather. The six categories of accommodation range from classic rooms to the twin residence suites, which manage to pack marble fireplaces, grand pianos, 12-seat dining rooms, 60-inch plasma screen TVs, private exercise rooms and spas, and butlers pantries into 5000 square feet of domed ceilings, and fresco-painted walls.

first time

This was to be my bf and my first weekend get away together. We were looking forward to some relaxation, but little did we know this would be such a disasterous weekend! My cc was swiped a few times upon check-in and was reassured that everything was ok and we were given our room keys. The entrance to the elevators were sort of 'hidden'. We got to our room, it was nice. but not as big as expected, but it was nice. The next morning, we had late breakfast at Bread+Butter. The coffee cake we had was ok, but really wasn't able to eat the top part because it was rock hard. Shortly after, my bf was wondering why he was having a toothache. We decided to rest in the room for a bit before heading out. A few hours later, he discovered he had broke his tooth!! We figured some time had past and wouldn't make any difference if we went to complain now. So we headed out and looked for a pharmacy to get some pain meds. He was in so much pain that we decided to just head back to our room, put the things there and come back down for dinner. We then opted for some noodles. So looking for NOW, we had asked a few security guards on the casino floor and pointed us in the direction. Until one actually told us to go the way we came. It was getting late, and his tooth was really bothering him, so we just went to ROMA. Then to find out that we weren't able to charge the meal to the room... Why? no one seems to know. Not even the manager there. We were just frustrated and he was in pain, and just needed to eat. After dinner, I went to the front desk to complain and the girl just looked at me like I was crazy and just said 'sorry' and to find out that they didn't have my cc on file. WHAT?! We are never coming back to Borgata. To think that this would be such a relaxing stay..... never again!!!!

Some Positive, some not so good, and some Terrible
By Rocky Raccoon, 07/30/09
I will start with the POSITIVES: This is a very beautiful hotel. We were very happy with the cleanliness and size of our room. The bathroom was very large and having the toilet off of the bathroom was a great idea too. The double size shower was outstanding as well. The Buffet was the probably the best I have ever been to and at a fair price considering all that you got, however the line on a Monday took about 45 minutes to an hour to get inside. The other restaurants are outstanding too. However, prepare for the bill. A nice dinner for two is going to set you back close to $200. THE NOT SO GOODS: Communication for a first timer at this location was non existent. The book of services left in the room was little to no help at all. The information on the television even worse. A map would have been very helpful to mention details on when things were opened, where they were located, how to sign up for special events, you name it did not exist. If this is your first time at this location prepared to be confused. THE TERRIBLE - The staff at this 5 star location are surprisingly clueless and not very helpful at all. I was shocked at how many people could not answer basic questions such as how do get your luggage picked up, where do you pick up your vehicle, simple things. The Concierge was a complete joke. The only thing useful he could provide was a map of Atlantic City. He could not give us driving directions to the Cape May Ferry because he “did not know it’s mailing address.” His help was basically involved saying leave the parking lot area and make a couple of lefts, go through a tunnel and then look for signs. Needless to say we got lost. We were also told that there was a free shuttle to the board walk. This was not true. The “Free Shuttle” was actually a fare jitney which was one of the scariest rides in my life. I could right a chapter just on this experience! Prepare to pay for everything on this stay except for the basic shampoo, conditioner, ice, and a bar of soap. Even a can of soda from the vending machine cost $1.75 each.

The best AC has to offer
By maggie woo, 02/11/09
I choose Borgata for many reasons, stay, eat, play. I feel comfortable, the food is fine, the hotel is well kept and clean. On my recent visit I stayed at Ballys and Taj Mahal. Both hotels were experiencing lay offs. At Taj Mahal, it took forever to get a drink at the table. It really made me appreciate the Luxury of Borgata. Parking at the Borgata is $5.00. Parking at Taj is 15.00. Borgata has many pros. The Gym is clean and has good equipment. The only cons is the actual winnings at the slots, and tables dont wink you're eye or you will loose you're money. Comps could be better. The trump and ballys could stands some upgrades in the casinos. It is all about cleanliness and customer service.

Penny pinching... The place is Terrible.
By MikeM, 01/27/09
As someone who frequents Atlantic City. I was VERY disappointed in my stay this past weekend. We were a group of 30 people celebrating an 80th Birthday. We stayed 1 night and occupied about 15 rooms. A few comments: For $425 a night. One would expect the 'minor' ammmenities... 1) A bottle of water or two bedside?? NO?? Even if it cost a few bucks!! 2) Being able to use the gym without being nickel and dimed for the 10 bucks!! 3) Our 7:30 dinner reservation at Bobby Flay's for 30 PEOPLE was missed by 30 minutes because the table wasn't ready. How can that be???? (we were a reservation for 30, made months in advance!!!) We were all standing out in the casino hall as we were waiting to be seated! (inlcuding my 80 year old mother) No place to sit at the bar! Disgraceful!! BTW--Once we sat down, the wait staff was excellent! Pleasant and attentive. 4) The next morning at breakfast, we all made our way down to the buffet. 4-5 different tables as we separated to make seating easier. We were all walking back and forth to each other's table talking and having fun. YET...ALL the while, we were being question by restaurant staff about the headcount!! It was absilutely ridiculous!!!! For the stinking ripoff of the $25 bucks(for a breakfast buffet) and we had to endure being harrassed by the staff retarted over whether we were trying to CHEAT the place?!! ABSOLUTELY UNFORGIVEABLE!! 5) We had a few children/teens with us. No game room? Arcade? Could they not spare the few hundred square feet of space to put a kid/teen room together?? As an entrepeneur and executive at a large public company, I log over 120 'hotel nights' a year. I have NEVER felt so 'penny pinched' as my stay at The Borgata. Horrible!! Never again. What a dump!!

Take it from someone local.
By Jack of all trades, 01/16/09
I live locally and consider myself a pretty unbias person. I've stayed at many hotel rooms throughout AC and the hotel rooms in Borgata are top of the line for AC. Thier main tower is comparable to Trump Taj's new tower, only where security is better at Taj's new tower, the main tower at borgata has a better pool area. It has a fairly large pool and two jacuzzis which are nice, but often child filled. The Water tower has multiple pools, but is more expensive and more exlusive. Service is pretty hit or miss, but definatly on the snobby side. a lot of "older" reviewers here complain about "kids" running around the casino floor, which i've never seen (though i'm sure it happens on occasion). Security is pretty tight, and they're very strict on carding (for past legal problems) i dont understand how anyone can say the location is amazing...the borgata is pretty isolated from the rest of Atlantic City. it's not on the boardwalk and its not within walking distance to other casinos or any shops. If your going to spend one night somewhere, and don't plan on going out, this is a pretty fun casino to go to. Bad poker players but a huge poker room. pretty tight slots and higher limit table games. great spa, and one of the most prestigious clubs in the US with mur mur. if your looking for the best customer service....i'd try one of the harrahs brand casinos (harrahs, showboat, ballys/claridge, Caesars), for a more energetic vibe from a younger crowd, Borgata is your place. overall 7 out of 10.

Catering to younger crowd now
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 08/22/08
I have stayed at the Borgata on numerous occasions, I have even gotten several friends to pay the high prices for a room just because it was the cleanest place I have found in Atlantic City. As of now I will never go back, the last few times I have been there they have catered to the younger crowd, I spend a ton of money in that place and am a Black card member but could not get a comp room for a Saturday night. The last few times I was there too many drunk kids hanging out, fights going on, and people running up and down the hallways, it is ridiculous. I e-mailed my host about the noise, and of course never got a response back but then also could not get another room on a Saturday night after e-mailing her. I say keep on catering to the young crowd, and your hotel will be destroyed. I am a Diamond card member also, so I can stay several places. Goodbye Borgata

Will not stay here again.
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 08/17/08
My husband and I have stayed at the Borgata for many years and recently it has gone downhill. Forget the slots, they are as cold as ice. We mostly play the tables now and the dealers have no personality and I swear they regulate the cards and how they are shuffled. We recently went there on a Friday, had to wait 4 hours to get into our room and the staff was very rude. The place gives you the feeling that you are not good enough to be there. I'll never go there again. Only plus is that the hotel is new and relatively clean. I'm very disappointed. Stay at one of the boardwalk hotels like the Trump Plaza or the Hilton. Staff is much more pleasant and people there are "regular" people!
