Poor value, No service

Very unhappy, checked on Friday. This trip was to take my freshman child to Notre Dame. It was end of August 2006 and very hot days. When I entered the room, I noticed it was little warm, I thought it might take a while for room to cool down. Around 8:45pm I called the desk and complained that AC was not working. I was told some one will come and fix it. I waited for 20 minutes and called the front desk, no answer. I went down to look for the desk clerk and realize that they close at 9:00 pm. There was no emergency number to call. I was not planning to spend night in hot room so I called other hotels but all rooms in the town were sold out for the weekend. I spend the night in the hot room.
Next day morning I went down and talked to the desk clerk and I was told that, they do not have repair person over the weekend and I have to wait till Monday. It was no help to me as I was checking out on Monday morning. As there were no other rooms available I spend the entire weekend in the hot room.
Why the do not have weekend service? or weekend service contract with AC contractors? They did charge premium for room. Even comfort inn and Best western Inn had lower rates than this hotel and they offer 24 hours service.
I will never stay in any Extended Stay hotels. I just don't understand that when you charge for a service and do not provide a comfortable cool room?
