Summer Vacation
Beautiful Mountain side location on rustic wooded city streets. Ours was a two bedroom suite with 3 TVs, fireplace in LR, very impressive with lots of earthtone granite throughout, countertops, table, huge twin bathroom suites. Balcony has chairs and tables for outdoor lounging. Very attractive unit, but beginning to show their age, some paint touch-up needed and a bathroom vent fan took 2 days to repair. All minor compared to the beauty of unit, lodge and area.
The Valdoro Mountain Lodge is located within walkable distance to town, through which the Blue River runs. Breckenridge has developed an elaborate open aire recreation area around the river with areas of interest for children and adults, abundant shopping and frequent evening events. Flowers, both in planters and hanging baskets are everywhere during July and August (our times to visit), although August was a little hot (85F), (102F in Denver, near record highs I'm told) and the Lodge has no air-conditioning, however adopting the local's custom of opening windows at night and closing them during the day left it reasonably comfortable. I'm told this is unusual, except for one or two weeks each summer.
Enclosed parking garage. Electronic user selectable combination safes in the rooms. Staff was pleasant, courteous and helpful. Lobby has large fireplace with commons area, room with several pool tables, exercise rooms, etc. The kitchen is fully furnished with all full sized appliances, range/oven, microwave, refrigerator, dishwasher, disposal, stack washer and dryer, pots and pans, utensils, dishes, pitchers, glasses, silverware, everything that you'd need for all but the most elaborate of meals.
Perhaps most helpful is an independent food delivery service that will let you order from almost any place in town and deliver it, so if some want pizza and others ribs or steak and lobster, you can easily do it in a single meal. Breckenridge, abundant hiking trails and Valdoro Mountain Lodge are all wonderful experiences!
