Description

DESCRIPTION: The Davenport Hotel and Tower is the fourth largest hotel in Washington state, offering 611 guest rooms that are the highest-rated in Spokane--AAA Four Diamond Award winner; Conde Nast Gold List Award Winner; BBB Torch Award for business ethics, Inlander Readers Choice, Washington Hotel & Lodging Association Outstanding Hotel. Guests are invited to enjoy three restaurants, 24-hour room service, Spa Paradiso, Davenport Hotel Candy Shoppe, Signature Collection Store, on-site valet and self-parking, lap pool, hot tub, fitness center, business center; near RiverPark Square shopping, downtown financial and business districts, university district, regional hospitals, bus/rail hub and ten-minutes from Spokane International Airport. HISTORY: The Davenport Hotel opened in 1914 as the first hotel with air conditioning, central vacuum, air walls and housekeeping carts. The king of salads, Crab Louis, was invented here and named for original proprietor, Louis Davenport. The Davenport Hotel is the largest and most celebrated work of famed Northwest architect Kirtland Cutter who believed architecture was art incarnate. (All of Cutters original public spaces and ballrooms at the Davenport survive). The Davenport Hotel served as Spokanes welcome to the world for most of the 20th century, then closed in 1985 a casualty of a failing regional economy and the abandonment of the citys core. Local entrepreneurs, Walt and Karen Worthy, purchased the derelict hotel in 2000 and set out to make it grand again. The Davenport Hotel re-opened in 2002; the Davenport Hotel Tower opened in 2007 just across the street from the historic hotel.

WAS IT WORTH IT
By ,
yes it was, food is great, our service was always the very best, attitude from all very positive, our room always cleaned. Our first time, and we will return. Would i change something, one thing, the money i spent for four days, we should have been given free parking (cheap shot to charge, i will return, but only if given free parking.

Do Not get the Honeymoon Suite
By ,
I must report back to you that we will never be staying at the Davenport Hotel Ever Again and have been telling everyone about our horrible room. I have heard nothing but, good things regarding the Davenport and was looking forward to our beautiful room there. I am appalled that some people pay the outrageous price of $599.99 for that room. It was not even worth the price of $299.00 we paid. The room was stuffy - No windows open they are screwed shut Towels and Robes were crispy like no fabric softener was used ever The T.V you cannot even see from the bed The headboard and foot board on the bed are loose When you look at your breath taking view you see the freeway and first ave The train kept us up all night I have two huge bruises from that Tub - there are no stairs into it and getting out your leg hit the sides sharp edge. We used it once and then I got out and that is when we were ready to ask for our money back. There was no mini bar, complimentary champagne, flowers - Nothing The first thing you see when you look out the window is an old scrub brush in the molding work outside - Nice I was very impressed by this. It took 45 minutes to get our $12.00 coffee in the morning. I truly feel ripped off! I am sure I am forgetting something but, we are not happy and I am going to Krem 2 what pisses you off and writing my review to find out if anyone else feels the same way we do. At least at the travel lodge you get free breakfast. Rose Geistwhite

WHAT A BEAUTY!
By ,
Words couldn't express how beautiful this hotel was. We stayed in the main hotel for our 10th Anniversary. We did go look at the rooms at the towers but thought we made a better decision with the main hotel. It was gorgeous, everyone gave great service and we parked our car for 2 days and was able to walk everywhere for a great time. The beds were so comfortable and the shower was the best. No need to bring shampoo, conditioner or soap with you (it is all built into the wall of the shower). We ate two times at their hotel, good food but expect to pay alot of money as it is expensive. Also, the pool is only 4 feet, would like to have a little deeper pool. The exercise room was great, alittle bit bigger would be better but it got the job done! I got off the plane to surprise my husband as he thought he was coming home to Boise from his traveling job but instead I came there for our Anniversary to surprise him at the airport and we went back to the car and came to the hotel. I didn't know what to expect as I didn't think Spokane had anything this charming and beautiful there. As we were a few hours early from check in time, it was not problem to check us in early. What a remarkable, beautiful place and we can't wait to go back and enjoy the beauty of it again. I only saw one child there during our stay but if you are considering a room there for a romantic get away, definately try the Davenport, I don't think you'll be disappointed! We have already recommended this to several friends.

THE BEST HOTEL IN HISTORY!!!!
By ,
The Davenport Hotel is astonishing! The service and the faculty were remarkable. The Sight of this hotel is just mind-boggling. My husband and I traveled for our 8 year anniversary and stayed in the Delux King Room in the Davenport. The restaurants had a very wide variety of food and it was absolutely delicious. I would reccomend this hotel to friends and family. The nicest Hotel Ive seen in my day. We are planning and eager to return!!!!

Flea infested dump with rude service
By ,
The sheets were dirty. The help was rude. They entered my room on numerous occasions without my consent! I got sick from styaing here. It was extremely expensive. DO NOT STAY HERE! It looks similar to the Caryle hotel!

Tip for Chef and Staff
By ,
Feature fruits grown in the region: Nectarines, peaches, pears, cherries, pluots, plums are in abundance. My fruit plate Sunday had sliced orange and grapefruit, pineapple, grapes and strawberries. Even vegetables such as corn, zukes, cukes, beans and tomatoes are locally available. You could be a leader in the "Grown in Washington" movement. Fred
