great alternative to a motel
This is a very comfortable small hotel, loaded with charm. My husband & I were going to a fancy event at a winery, & we didn't want to stay at a bland motel. For the same price, we got an excellent room here w/a delightfully soft bed, a flat-screen TV (that you could plug a computer or DVD player into), large bathroom w/claw-foot tub, & an excellent location near downtown (tho' not quite walking distance). Every area was decorated w/lovely vintage French accents. We did have to ask for the morning coffee & pastries that were promised, but no big deal. Some construction was going on in the area next to our room in the back, but we were forewarned & they didn't start too early in the morning. We were very satisfied w/our stay. Great value, very comfortable, & pretty to look at.

Look no farther!!

Look no farther! This is the place to stay! My visit to Metro Hotel couldnt have been better. I stayed for one night in early June while on a day trip from the East Bay, but I would recommend this spot for any length stay. Sonoma and Napa are close enough for me to travel roundtrip in one day and Ive made the trip countless times. However my visits are just too short! Ive often wanted to spend a night in the wine country but often found the cost of nice bed and breakfast style accommodations way too expensive. Well Ive found the solution! Metro Hotel is a stylish and trendy hotel with a classic, traditional French feel right in the wine country at a fraction of the cost. The timeless yet contemporary European atmosphere is unmistakable as you approach the building. Attention to detail carries the fun French feel into the quaint lobby, caf, and into each room. From the claw footed tub and porcelain bathroom fixtures to the geese footed bed, each detail reminded me that I was in an extraordinary comfortable yet unique place. I would recommend this stay for couples both young and old. If its your first visit to the California Wine Country and youre looking for a touch of nightlife and shopping this is a great choice. Metro Hotels also perfect for the couple that makes countless trips to the wine country and is looking to rediscover the wine country in a different light. The hotel is within walking distance of the downtown area that has been given a makeover in the past several years. Set right along the river, the downtown area offers shopping, fine dinning, a theater and numerous places to enjoy the atmosphere of the eclectic city. I can't say enough nice things about the owners, the atmoshpere and overall stay. Look no farther, book a room!

The worst
By ,
Very bad experience. Filthy rooms and lots of bugs. It might be cheap, but you'd be better off staying elsewhere. Bad service too. Very negative at the front desk.

a refreshing retreat!
By ,
we simply loved the metro, and i'm stunned at the ridiculous reviews because i didn't witness any of those negative details. this place is vintage magic! close walk to historic downtown, too. very convenient. it is a simple hotel, but that's french style (excluding french royalty of course). we like the "come and go as you please" feel to the place, so much that we are certain to return, as well as recommend to friends and family who will be visiting us once we move to the area. no tv? well, we had a fantastic flat panel lcd tv (i'll admit, not very french, but it satisfied the american in both of us). personally, i loved the claw-foot tub (a bath-takers paradise), and the old world details/simplicity of the private bath. charming artwork lining the motion-sensor lit hallway. amazing entryway staircase, made the kid in me want slide down that banister, whoosh! the adult in me, however, did not follow through with this idea. very friendly, very helpful, thoughtful staff around during the day. we felt as though we owned the place, it was so quiet at night. i even received a call after we left the metro informing us that the loud ticking clock that was in our room had been changed out (our one, teeny tiny complaint)! merci beaucoup hotel metro!

Unfairly trashing Metro Hotel
By ,
I have read these reviews and it sounds to me like the hotel is being trashed unfairly by a person or persons who wish to divert business to their, um, large-ish upscale national chain hotel in town. The reviews are too outlandish to believe and written in such a calculated way, and they are all chiming in on the same things. It's also easy to just jump on to this page and write a review without having stayed here or logging in with an e-mail or password, so someone like me who HAS NOT STAYED AT THE HOTEL can easily write a review about it! While it's true that Metro Hotel isn't an upscale four-star new construction deluxe accommodation and while I do know that the owners don't man the desk, I find the reviews to be utterly unbelievable. I've had guests from out of town stay here and while it's not the Ritz Carlton or the Four Seasons, it has it's charm and it's quirks which they have all enjoyed and appreciated, and for the price, it can't be beat.

JUST WHAT I WAS LOOKING FOR!!
By ,
We are having a perfectly wonderful experience here at the Hotel Metro! I'm so jazzed about this place that I didn't want to wait until I returned home to write this review! My daughter and I wanted a fun weekend get-away to the wine country and didn't want to pay through the teeth for our stay. The Metro Hotel is perfect! We registered online quickly and had the assurance of our booking within seconds. The Innkeepers are friendly and helpful. They have decorated with a myraid of French-European eclectic design, including retro-style lighting, state of the art flat screen tvs and an overall feeling of Parisian delights. The rooms are spacious, our beds are comfortable and the organic coffee delicious. I'm anxious for my next visit to The Metro Hotel! Maybe I'll see you there!

A pleasant experience
By ,
Well, The Metro hotel was divine and a respite from the average hotel. It can only be compared to a bed and breakfast without the breakfast. The taste and design was refined and artistic; having a french 50's theme. Hardwood floors, skylights, clawfoot tubs, and more....And Spotless...and Quiet. I don't like to stay in hotels. But this was a joy. I felt very at home and relaxed here.

Please Never Stay Here!
By ,
The location is good, but the owners were so rude to my husband and I! I would never recommend this place to anyone - not even my worst enemy. I can't believe people like this work with the public and have the nerve to call it service!!!!

Refreshing, Charming and can't wait to go bac
By ,
This was such an unexpected treat to find this hotel. The hotel is charming, clean and perfect in every way. The service was impeccable, the owners are wonderful and the organic coffee in the morning made me a convert! I only wish we could have stayed for a week. I will definitely come back! What a delight to stay here while touring wonderful Napa and Sonoma counties, but also experiencing "France". The charm of this hotel is unique, rare in the American world of generic hotels. I hate to recommend this wonderful place as I always want to be able to find a vacant room whenever I am in the area but would also like everyone to discover the joy of staying here.

Great Hotel!
By ,
We absolutely loved this delightful little "Paris" hotel which we found by complete accident! It is charming beyond measure, quite affordable and within walking distance of old Petaluma. Every last detail is lovingly French French French, from the doorknobs to the chandeliers, to the vibrant colors, to the foos ball table, to the music on the piano. It is chock full of real French antiques and memorabilia shipped over from Europe and a million details only a true Francophile would know. We feel like we just had a fun European vacation at a tiny fraction of the cost. We have nothing but good to say about this warm, whimsical, unpretentious and utterly comfortable hotel and it's friendly, hospitable owners. Do yourself a favor and check it out! Vive La France!
