Filthiest place my wife and I have ever stayed in
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 10/21/09
This hotel should immediately be closed down by the city of Knoxville. Filthy beyond imagination. It is under new, and utterly incompetent management. Stay here at your own risk. The new manager will demand advance pay for the room in cash. Don't be as stupid as I was and agree to it. Be wary of older reviews. It is not the same place it was. My wife and i were so appalled by the condition of our room -- dirty sheets, filthy bathroom -- that we were promised a 50 percent refund. that was on September 12. It is now October 21. Jack T. Frederick, Md.

Negative remarks about Maplehurst are UNFAIR
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 05/22/09
We looked at the pictures of the Maplehurst Inn on line and made reservations for one night; and after reading the negative remarks written in some of the reviews we almost changed our minds but decided to go anyway. We were glad that we went - we had a very nice experience. The place is old but tastefully furnished. It is old but not dirty. It is cozy, charming and pleasantly different from any other chain hotel. The host, Sonny was very helpful and courteous; he went out of his way to make us feel welcome. We treated him with respect and he returned it with even more hospitality. Dr. and Mrs. N. Khalifa

A Place With Character
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 01/12/09
I'd choose the uniqueness and charm of Maplehurst Inn anytime over generic chain motels and hotels. The place has character. I felt completely at ease there, as though I were visiting the home of dear relatives a little past their prime. Because of the inn's location, I could observe aspects of the character of Knoxville itself. From Maplehurst, I had a clear view of the Henley Street bridge; I could explore the large old churches and the neighborhood around the university. Downtown Knoxville and market square, lively even on a winter's night, are close enough to walk to. Maplehurst owner/manager made every effort to make our stay there enjoyable. His place is exceptional, and I would eagerly stay there again if I'm going to be in Knoxville in the future.

Dirty, Dirty, Dirty!!!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 09/18/08
Mold, no hangers, musty smell. The air conditioner did not work right. The kitchen was filthy. Sausage was left in the microwave for the following morning breakfast. ( I put it in the dirty fridge.) You could not see the floor in the office. Stay somewhere else.

What a horrible little man!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 11/21/07
My fiancee and I went to the Maplehurst to see the establishment because we want to find a nice, cute place for the night of our wedding. When we walked in the front door, the owner greeted us, yet was horribly rude and asking what we were doing there. When I explained that we were interested in his inn, he demanded to know which room. I replied and said, any of the rooms, we would just like to see your B&B. Rudely, he asked, well how did you hear about us. I said that we saw the webpage and he said, well then you have seen the rooms. He wasn't interested in speaking with us or showing potential customers around the property. I could not believe how rude to visitors! I would NOT recommend this B&B to anyone!

Wow.. if you like European style Inns, this is it !!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 10/03/07
Charming...charming ...charming !!! From the front entry with its beautiful cut glass vase to the hospitality of the our host Sonny. You will enjoy a quiet and relaxing weekend. The Maplehurst Inn is located close to everything. We spent a wonderful weekend touring the downtown Knoxville area. Sonny gave us local area maps and directions. The scenery is amazing and the history of this city is rich. We loved the Tennessee River paddleboat and visited with our new found Knoxville friends at the Marina on their Houseboat. We got to see the University of Tennessee Neyland Stadium and we went up to the fourth floor Glass Room of the Sunsphere at the World's Fair Park next to the Convention Center. The Inn was always peaceful to come back to at the end of our Very Full days. Sonny always had some snacks out at night downstairs in the Dining room. We slept in late the last day and savored the calm and quiet. He did not rush us out .. a real treat when you are traveling!

So bad!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 08/02/06
Dirty room, smell of dust, mold and smoke. Dust on the ceiling fan, the filter of the air-conditionning was packed with dust. Breakfast was bad and the cheapest you can imagine.

You would be off sleeping in your car!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 06/16/06
This place was filthy - spiders in the bathroom - moldy smell throughout the room - and to make matters worse, the breakfast the next morning was the worst! I would defiantly recommend staying anywhere in Knoxville but here.
