Disappointing for the price

My husband and I stayed in an executive suite with beautiful harbor views, and it was a great base location for exploring the city.
This is an older hotel and as expected the dcor and room amenities reflect same. I.E. the furniture is quality but aged, there was water damage on the walls near the shower, there are no vending machine areas, etc.
The biggest problem was the staff. I found them to be unfriendly and unhelpful. On arriving, the bell-hop didnt even offer to take our bags up to the room! There was seldom anyone at the front door, and the concierge seemed to be at her desk only a few hours a day. When attempting to ask the front-desk staff for any information (I.E. locations, directions or other recommendations) the responses tended to be terse and vague. When calling down to ask a question about a local theater the response was Oh, I wouldnt no about that. Look it up in the phone book. Basically, you are treated as if you should already know where everything is. Ive never stayed at a hotel that didnt even have local maps available to assist you with exploring the area.
The workout center is nice and the staff there was far more helpful. The exercise equipment is fairly standard, but the locker rooms, pool and sauna/steam rooms are exceptional.
Overall Id say this is an overpriced hotel that puts all of its energy into catering to its club members, residents and event guests. Be prepared to pay just for the location and extra for the views.
