We spent the night at Spruce Lodge in Nov 2008 and it was super. Clean, convenient location. Breakfast was good. Owners super friendly. Recommended

Good location, Good value

My husband and I stayed there after a business trip October 2006. I would have written sooner but I had no idea this review system existed until doing research for another trip. We stayed there without reservations, saw the sign and pulled in. The owner was very pleasant. We asked to see the room and the other facilities and she had no problem accommedating our request. This was first time we had stayed at a B&B so we weren't sure what to expect. It was clean. I found the family and the cats to be most friendly. I love cats so they did not cause me to have any second thoughts. It was close to the highway, but we knew that when we pulled in, they didn't try to hide it. Besides once the traffic calmed down(normal highway times) the place was quiet. The owner gave us very good ideas for lunch and dinner, both of which were excellant. What folks need to realize is when you stay at a B&B you become part of that traveling family for the time you are there. Sure, breakfast will be noisey but that's the whole part of the B&B experience. My first B&B experience was very pleasant thanks to these folks and the families we shared the common areas with. I would go there again and recommend this to my friends. Thanks

Best Deal in Town!
By Krista, 06/18/07
Very comfortable. The family who owns this B&B is very friendly and helpful. It was clean and quiet and was half the price of most other places. Plus it includes breakfast which consisted of cereal, oatmeal, fresh breads, bagles granola bars, milk, oj, coffee... We were very happy staying here! There is no A/C but we found it to be comfortable at night with the windows open and the fan on. The only problem was that with the windows open we could hear cars passing by in the morning and couldn't sleep too late. Next time I would bring some earplugs.

Met owners Carol and Doug
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 08/07/06
Have not stayed there but were camping a couple weeks ago and parked in a site next to theirs while they were enjoying their grandchildren for the weekend. They are the absolute nicest people! I'm sure if you were staying at their bnb you would get treated very kindly. I got a very good impression of their hospitality!! They were very attentive to their grandchildren and their children came to visit. You can tell family was important to them and they even gave my dogs some leftover picnic food! We all loved that! You meet some of the best people camping and we have to say they top the list! I hope to meet up with them again some day and even stay at their bnb. My husband and I thought about spending our anniversary there! The Urtz's from Rome, NY

Awesome value
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 04/09/06
We were very skeptical becuase the price was so reasonable but we were very pleasantly surprised. The room was super clean and very well maintained. The location is a little too far to walk to the village but other than that, the place is great. We will definitely stay again and suggest it to others.
