Great Hotel
By Jewel, 7/21/11
Went on spur of the moment and caught a great special on rates. Had an oceanfront suite with a king bed and living room. Breakfast Buffet was free and busy, food was good, great omlet station. food hot and plentiful. Pool clean and there was a pool attendant who was very accommodating. Hotel about 3 blocks from walking mall and restaurants. housekeeping was there til around 11 PM, I know this because I called for towels and a young girl was there in no time with what I needed. The front desk was warm and friendly. They smiled, answered questions, I had many and we were checked into our room in no time. Will stay again.

construction schedule vs. dismissive management
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 2/14/11
In July of 2010, we booked a 5 night stay for our favorite room on 5th floor for Superbowl week, we have been repeat customers since 2001. We were not given the courtesy of a call from the hotel to inform us of scheduled construction of floors being removed from unit directly above us, we could have worked around this, instead we check in on Sunday, to be throttled out of bed with jack hammering, we asked several members of management regarding noise and for how long will construction continue and where told different stories by each, room change was the only thing offered, no apology and our concern and apparent unhappiness with how the situation was handled was dismissed as "It's construction, can't do anything about it." We looked forward to our time away, and were treated as the unfortunate victims of condo owner in unit above us schedules construction with absolute no awareness or caring to booking made since July. My husband and I were really disappointed and will not be returning or recommending this hotel due to poor management skills.

WORST HOTEL STAY EVER!
By Anonymous, 9/8/10
This has to be the worst stays at a hotel in my 30 years of existence! I have never ever ever been treated so horribly by a hotel. Received horrible service from girl at front desk, I don't know her name but she was work on the night of September 4 at 11:00 p.m. She gave us a terrible time about trying to get our keys. The room was under my fathers name and he went to get our keys because we were coming in super late and after an 8 hour drive with two dogs we just wanted to sleep. The girl at the front desk argued with him saying that she wasn't giving him the keys because the room was for his daughter. HOWEVER, he was the one paying for the room and they had his credit card number on file. My fathers asked to speak to the manager and this pleasant woman at the desk refused. Finally she gave him the keys. Then on September 4 at 10:45 p.m. our room phone rings. We were asleep because we were getting up early the next morning for an outing. The front desk was on the other line saying "Do you want your breakfast coupons??" My response was "It is 11:00 at night; NO I don’t want my breakfast coupons!" She then proceeds to say that she didn't receive the $100 deposit for the pets, (We had already given them $100 security deposit, but I guess this doesn't matter) So I got out of bed and went down to the front desk to give them another $100, that they didn't ask for at check in! While I was down there I mentioned something to the two employees about how rude the girl was the night before. Well low and behold it was the same ignorant employee. She then proceeds to raise her voice calling my dad a "DRUNK" she is going on a rant making false allegations about my father calling him a mean drunk and she needed to get the manager to deal with him. ALL LIES! First off my father just got in from an 8 hour drive to get to this magical place and he was not drunk. LIES and he asked her to get the manager because he couldn't deal with here. The entire time I am down there is woman is calling my family names and flinging COMPLETE LIES about us. I asked her if she realized we were guests and she just rolled her eyes and was a completely NASTY NASTY person! I will not return and if you are thinking about staying here think again. The Inn of Cape May right next door is a beautiful place to stay or the Congress Hall. There are many other options, believe me you don't want to stay here!!!!!!!

don't waste your money!!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 7/13/09
we had the pet friendly victorian suite. don't be fooled by the pictures on the website. room was very small, cramped, and overpriced. receptionist at the front desk was very crabby and rude. i would not recomend this hotel to anyone but my worst enemy. i could have stayed at a nice B&B for the price i paid for this place. ($362/night) The comforter in my room looked filthy. the rug in my pet friendly room was chewed up. What do they do with the $25 a day they charge for bringing the pet?! I visit Cape May often and this is the worst hotel i have stayed at. Don't waste your money.

location, loaction, location!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 8/16/08
No better place to stay for access to the town's shops... you don't need to move your car. Nicely decorated with period furnishings, most associates were friendly and accommodating. Suites are expensive and somewhat cramped but that's the nature of a so long ago developed area. Want fresh and new? Stay at Wildwood Crest, do not stay in Wildwood. Like Rome, Hotels will be small, parking difficult, to be at the core. Pool is small, closes at 7! Internet is wireless in the 5th floor lobby, dial-up in rooms! Breakfast is good, considering it's included. Overall, a pleasant experience, many of the customers have been going there for years!

Bites
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 11/26/07
The best feature was the location of the hotel. It was relaxing to sit on the small but comfortable veranda and enjoy the beauty of the beach and the freshness of the oceon air.The room was decorated nicely with its white wicker furniture. The dining room was nice..breakfast wass good. Only one problem...I woke up to bug bites on both my legs..in which I was very sure that I did not have them before sleeping in the hotel bed! When I reprted this to the clerk behind the desk, all she said was really?? YES REALLY! Needless to say I will never return to Hotel Bow Wow again!!

not so pet friendly & dirty beaches
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 9/26/07
This hotel advertises as being pet-friendly but they don't tell you when you book that it's a two mile drive to the only beach your dog is permitted on; all beaches within walking distance of the hotel do not permit animals. The one beach that does permit dogs is called Sunset Beach, and yes there are beautiful sunsets there but the beach itself is gravel, not sand, and very hard to walk on for people and pets, very hard on the toes of my old dog. So basically we did not have a beach vacation at all since there was no beach we could sit and enjoy. I did walk walk without our dog on the beaches near the hotel and am sorry to say that Cape May itself, it's residents, and visitors should all be ashamed of the enormous amount of cigarette butts all over the beach, and other litter. A litter campaign is definitely needed in Cape May, a shame for such a beautiful, historic area. Back to the hotel, the room was VERY small but clean enough, the road in front is loud, the desk clerks cranky, but the breakfast included was very good. The clogged toilet was quickly fixed by a cheerful plumber and the cleaning staff were friendly and kind.

CRAMPED AND CRABBY
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 6/19/07
The receptionist at the desk was disgruntled, when our Keys for the room did not work. For the $222/night price there is more room in a hall closet. Breakfast (Included) was very good.

VERY DISAPPOINTED
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 9/13/06
BOOKED 2 ROOMS ONE WAS SUPPOSED TO BE A SUITE IT WAS TINY & DARK. THERE WAS NO WINDOW IN THE BEDROOM, PRETTY DEPRESSING when we asked for a room change the front desk had a very poor attitude and said there was no other suites available. the second room smelled damp & musty the bathroom in both rooms were small and cramped the pool was not very well maintained we also encounted a very rude barmaid at the pool and decided we would not even bother having a drink when my husband reported the rudeness to the manager they did nothing all in all we would never stay at this place again. truthfully, the staff and mostly the management need customer service classes

Changes have happened
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 6/17/05
My family and I had been staying at the Marquis for 11 years. Ever since I was 2 years old. It was always the best except for the past year. When my family left last year, we were charged with $800 worth of extra fees, but we never really got a full explination of why we were charged. The hotel employees were very rude andimpolite. The new renovations are very poor and a dissapointment. *Small rooms and are over priced.
