Stay at Holiday Inn added to our Trip!
The number one advantage of staying at the Holiday Inn Munich City Center is it made it SO much easier for my husband and I to take in important sights of the city since it is so centrally located.
On our first evening there, we walked around and found ourselves meandering with the direction the crowd was headed, and lo and behold, we were in Marienplatz. According to my reserach of places to visit and things to see before I got to Munich it was amazing and heartening to see that much of it was walking distance for us. With the cold crisp April air (we decided to visit Germany in the shoulder months before the tourist fever hit), we enjoyed a brisk walk to Marienplatz, where we found the symbol of Munich, the onion shaped towers, a famous cathedral that was under reconstruction, several museums and important churches within the area itself. Its brimming with culture, history, a lovely pedestrian high fashion shopping boulevard and excellent choice of restaurants, cafe's and bars. There was a bier garten, fresh baked goods, flowers and fruits market, the famous bratwurst stands, and my hubby and I were in heaven that we got to it all so quickly.
The Deustche Museum was even more close by than Marienplatz. An even longer walk took you to Viktualien market, where all the tourist open top buses stop for those who want to hop of for an even large city tour.
For everything else, we had to take easily accesible guided tours to go outside of the city and see other imp castles (like Nueschwanstein), museums and palaces.
Excellent food, good service and centrally located. Five thumbs up to this hotel!! I recommend it for anyone who really wants to explore Munich.
