Not really worthwhile
By ,
Take a pass folks...not worth it. This hotel is located outside the city center (but a short metro ride). My room looks recently renovated and seems clean. It's fairly cramped though, fine for one person but two is a stretch. Be aware that they screw you on Internet. First of all, there is mo wifi anywhere but the lobby. Not in the rooms & not in the conference center. What is this - 1987? If you do want wifi, it's €10 for 90 minutes (which must be used on the same day of course!). If you have a laptop there is an in room landline for €27 per DAY. The hotel site is not at all clear regarding the complete lack of Wifi. Personally, I would never stay here again and I would recommend this place to others. When I travel, I need to be connected. Anyplace that bills itself as a business hotel should recognize this & get with the times! Also, staff is NOT friendly or helpful. They do, however, specialize in rummaging around at the front desk and ignoring guests while the queue steadily builds. If this sounds good to you, by all means book here.

With the subway/train located at the bottom of the hotel this is the MOST convenience way to get around Munich and stay in the central part of the city. Early morning flights back to the U.S. can be made easy with a early morning hop onto the train direct to the airport.

Museums in Munich (Germany)
Touring Munich, the cultural metropolis, isn't complete without a visit to its world-renowned museums such as the Alte Pinakothek or the Deutsches Museum. Whether your interests lie in the fine arts or technology, Egyptian statues or post-modern design objects, you can look forward to seeing collections of the highest quality in every museum. As impressive as the variety of the museum city of Munich is also its dynamism. Collections are continuously being added to its inventories, exciting new museums such as the Pinakothek der Moderne and the Verkehrszentrum have only recently opened their doors. This enjoyment of the arts becomes an all-round experience through stimulating guided tours and inviting museum cafes.

Centrally located in the Heart of Europe. Easy access to the Airport, Hauptbahnhof, and all of the wonderful sights of Munich. The rest of Europe is only a step away.

Stay at Holiday Inn added to our Trip!
By ,
The number one advantage of staying at the Holiday Inn Munich City Center is it made it SO much easier for my husband and I to take in important sights of the city since it is so centrally located. On our first evening there, we walked around and found ourselves meandering with the direction the crowd was headed, and lo and behold, we were in Marienplatz. According to my reserach of places to visit and things to see before I got to Munich it was amazing and heartening to see that much of it was walking distance for us. With the cold crisp April air (we decided to visit Germany in the shoulder months before the tourist fever hit), we enjoyed a brisk walk to Marienplatz, where we found the symbol of Munich, the onion shaped towers, a famous cathedral that was under reconstruction, several museums and important churches within the area itself. Its brimming with culture, history, a lovely pedestrian high fashion shopping boulevard and excellent choice of restaurants, cafe's and bars. There was a bier garten, fresh baked goods, flowers and fruits market, the famous bratwurst stands, and my hubby and I were in heaven that we got to it all so quickly. The Deustche Museum was even more close by than Marienplatz. An even longer walk took you to Viktualien market, where all the tourist open top buses stop for those who want to hop of for an even large city tour. For everything else, we had to take easily accesible guided tours to go outside of the city and see other imp castles (like Nueschwanstein), museums and palaces. Excellent food, good service and centrally located. Five thumbs up to this hotel!! I recommend it for anyone who really wants to explore Munich.

Very, very convenient location
By ,
Munich is a great place to visit and a good hotel like the Holiday Inn Munich City Centre just makes the whole trip that much better! Getting to the hotel from the Munich airport was so easy -- just hop on the S8 train, stop at the Rosenheimer Station, follow the arrows to the hotel (up an escalator and through the shopping centre) and roll your luggages there, completely shielded from the weather. I bought a Day Ticket at the airport and used the same ticket to ride the trains all over Munich the rest of the day. The room I stayed in was small but quiet, clean and confortable. The bathroom was spotless, everything worked perfectly, the staff was friendly and the service was fine. Forgotten to bring something? No problem. The shopping centre has EVERYTHING -- an Asian mini-market, two well-stocked supermarkets, shoes, clothes, a really good bakery, Subway's, pizzas and an Internet shop just next to the hotel entrance. The area around the hotel and Rosenheimer Station has a wide variety of restaurants (German, Italian, Chinese, Indian and McDonald's), bakeries and other eateries. At the concert hall across the street food is also available till late whenever there's something going on. When I visit Munich again, I won't bother checking out other hotels.
