As Amy and I were just zipping up our last of five bags, we got a text message from Dana -- their initial flight on American had been cancelled the night before (thunderstorms or some such) and the airline had rerouted them through Dallas (that is, from Detroit to Dallas to La Guardia) with an arrival of 9:50 p.m., ten minutes before our Aerlingus flight left JFK. Yesterday was a good start to the trip - sharing cheesecake with one's best friend and having complete and utter control over the radio/CD player (bwa ha ha!) is pretty much ideal in my mind.
